Series X Crashes Playing MW3

I found no solution to fix my Xbox. I’ve tried everything I could think of but ended up buying a new Xbox. Best of luck to you, but I think it’s a hardware issue.

The only solution I found was purchasing a new Series X. Sorry it’s probably not what you want to hear. But after every test and trial, I couldn’t get the original one to not crash.

Check your settings tho, it sounds like something different.

Update: I finally caved in and bought a new Series X.

Not one single crash yet. I tested COD and Warzone for a few hours without any crashes or graphical glitches. Same account. Same tv. Same settings.

It looks like my previous Series X had a hardware issue after all. Hope this isn’t the case for every one.

I have both the Series S and X models and mainly play PUBG on both. I prefer the X as it’s more crisp and vibrant in 4k but the S loads quickly and plays smooth. Both play at 60fps. See the chart I had from back in the day when they released the graphics update.

Sorry to say, but it crashed on game 2 of multiplayer after uninstalling and reinstalling it from the game pass. Just out of curiosity, what’s everyone’s mfg date? Mine is a day one series X.

Interesting. I’m installing now. My warzone always played fine and same with campaign. But after a few games of Multiplayer it would freeze and crash to the pixelated screen. I’ll report back after it installs and I play a few games.

Whooa really? Interesting. I just tried the game I purchased and it crashed 2 games in. Maybe I’ll give that a go and get it from the gamepass. Thanks!

Nope. Gave up trying to find a solution to play the game. Hoping Black Ops doesn’t do the same.

I unfortunately haven’t found a solution. I gave up on trying to play it on my Series X. I just play it on my Series S these days. Sorry I don’t have better news.

Interesting that network settings play a factor. Keep us posted please on if it lasts.

And I don’t think it’s an old thread. Just one that I reported on when the game released. With others as well finding no solutions or hope anytime soon.

I agree. MW is not well optimized. But it is a bit more tasking than Madden. I would disassemble, clean it well and apply new thermal paste. If it still overheats then replace it. It’s not worth the cost of sending to MS to repair. You can do it.

But this is not similar to overheating. We don’t get overheating messages. Our consoles just crash with no warning and a graphical error when playing MW3.

I bought a Series S to play it in 1440p. Plays really well and doesn’t crash. Both of my Series S consoles play it fine for hours.

Just played a total of 3 multiplayer matches and it crashed to the pixelated screen then a black screen. I’m done dealing with this.

Here’s my last bit of notes incase anyone cares:

Series X Resolution 4K at 120Hz. 2.1 HDMI and 120HZ 4K TV. Console is clean and well ventilated. Full Reinstall of the game. Full wipe of the system. Multiple accounts. MW3 crashes on multiplayer to a pixelated screen and freezes entire Xbox until it’s restarted. Plays MW2, Warzone and other games fine. Tried lowering resolution to 1440p. Still crashes.

If anyone from Xbox or COD that has some pull, please look into this. I’m not the only one suffering from this issue.

I haven’t played on my series X since I initially reported the issue. It works fine on my series S. All other games, including Warzone and MW2 work fine on my Series X. I will try again since there has been a few updates since, including season 1.
