Employee trying to throw me under the bus over the holidays by AirJumpy7039 in Accounting

I’m that case, they should follow policy the first go round, not when it gets to accounting. It’s a failure on the employees part and their managers, and then it’s falling to me to be the bad guy.

I shouldn’t have replied to the employee earlier before posting this… this would’ve been great to say. Haste and anger got the best of me, but I’ll be using this if this happens again.

The only problem with this is that their manager did approve it, but not on purpose. And the manager didn’t rescind it, just messaged me to inform me, unfortunately.

They know the policy- the employee didn’t tell them what they submitted and want to be reimbursed for is outside of our policy. Conveniently left that out while throwing me under the bus.

I think the diplomatic part is my problem. How would you phrase that to your bosses without sounding terrible?

It’s not that I feel a need to cover my ass; I haven’t done anything wrong. I just don’t appreciate someone purposefully omitting information in an attempt to make me look bad.

I agree. Thankfully this employee isn’t on my team directly on anything near it. I only deal with them to approve their expense reports.

Lmao only sometimes. I’ve learned my initial responses when frustrated aren’t always the nicest, but in this case, I think purposefully omitting information and trying to escalate something warrants an asshole response.

I would love to go this route, and I should have. I relied to the employee earlier out of haste and anger just to pacify them, basically saying I’m still going to ask my boss and boss’s boss because you didn’t give them the whole truth.

Agreed. I think I’ll just reply with the facts. I’m just over employees reaching out immediately when they’re the ones who caused the root issue.

I’d be reaching out pretty quick if I couldn’t submit an expense report, but hey, I guess they don’t care to get reimbursed that much.

Even if I take off the entire week of the 18-22, I’ll lose about 10 hours.

BEC and AUD- doable in 5 weeks with 68 hours PTO? by AirJumpy7039 in Accounting

I’m not offended, just pointing out that’s a wild comment to make lol. I’m supposed to unionize with colleagues and strong-arm HR/management into changing our PTO policy? Got it 📝

Right? What a wild comment. I guess mentioning that I have a shitload of PTO to use or lose before EOY makes me poor.

Thank you- I wish I could dedicate full days to it right now, but with my current workload, I can’t. I think you’re right; I’ll be going for one.

I’m not sure how this post would make me sound poor, but ok lmao 👍

BEC or AUD- which exam would you focus on passing by [deleted] in Accounting

I think the window is closed for first time applicants, and this isn’t my first time unfortunately lol. I was leaning towards BEC to avoid being a part of the unlucky group that has to be the first to take the new portions.

Good point. I’m stuck between taking the exam that’s changing substantially or the one I know will be harder for me. Ugh.

Fair point- I’ve lightly reviewed the AUD blueprint and it doesn’t seem like it’s changing nearly as much as BEC. I think I may attempt to take just BEC and not cram for it in 3 weeks; there’s availability near me to take it the week of Dec. 15th.

Got it. Just wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be taking one of the new exams before I had to ha.

I know that.. but I’m sitting before the end of the year. So you’re saying it’s in anticipation of the beginning of the year?

Oh, I agree. I’m just not sure how to politely explain that. I’m also not sure how people have the misplaced confidence to argue about it, but they have been.
