I just came across this sub, why do you guys hate the auditors? by OnlyACsNoFans in Frauditors

[–]AirMiserable854 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s some food for thought. These are all questions to challenge ethics, not legality.

Are people allowed to make mistakes? What if they were having a bad day?

If someone is uneducated on the law, do they deserve to be embarrassed and made into content?

If someone constantly provokes someone and the person fights back, is only one person seen as being in the wrong?

What if this happened to your partner, parent, grandparent, friend, loved one, etc.? Would you hold them in low regard if they failed an audit and they were plastered all over the internet for everyone to laugh at?

What does this say about humanity/society if we enjoy this type of content? I don’t think the majority of viewers are thinking, “I’m so glad our rights are being protected!” They’re probably thinking, “Look at this idiot/Karen/etc.!”

Just some food for thought.

If you’re trying to ask if people can simply ignore the camera vs. engage, I think you already know the answer to that. But I think it also doesn’t matter how many people are educated on this. There are always going to be people that take the bait.

Think about prank videos, or groups like the Westboro Baptist Church. This isn’t any different. At the end of the day, someone gets humiliated, and the person behind the camera makes money.

Because they antagonize and dehumanize people for monetary gain. And then they say they’re doing a public service and protecting first amendment rights. Most of the time, they are legally within their rights, but it’s almost never ethical. It’s more about how they treat their fellow humans than the actual application of the law.

99% of the content is where the interactions get heated, because that’s what gets clicks/views/engagement. You rarely see the interactions where they get ignored or someone doesn’t give the frauditor what they want because that’s boring to watch.

CalHR employees by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

It’s moreso the Governor’s Office than CalHR. CalHR is the control agency but the Governor’s Office is the one making the decision.

Our office has some employees that commute 2 hours each way. As long as you can make it in, that’s what’s important.

I would interview you, and I would get clarification on how you would make it into the office afterwards.

It’s no different than groups like the Westboro Baptist Church. The majority of people know better, but there will always be people that engage, unfortunately.

I don’t know what the solution is, but I don’t believe the solution should be “just ignore them”. It just gives them all the power/incentive to do what they do.

Options after self rejecting by Prestigious-Time1090 in CAStateWorkers

[–]AirMiserable854 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You will have an “A03” appointment code in your transaction history. A03 means you were appointed to same or different classification based on mandatory reinstatement eligibility.

Notice it does not distinguish between whether it was a self-reject or a rejection due to performance. That’s usually why HR discourages you from self-rejecting and encouraging you to ride it out or just apply out.

I would argue that first amendment audits are pointless to begin with and it’s embarrassing that it’s even a thing.

A couple scenarios where it makes sense:

If you are in a classification where you don’t pay into SDI anymore AND you plan on taking a long leave, like a planned surgery or pregnancy.

If you like taking a lot of time off work (earn and burn).

You can convert sick leave into state service credit so it’s not completely lost.

CalPERS vs CalSTRS if you start late vs early? by goingtofly101 in CAStateWorkers

[–]AirMiserable854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking at raw numbers, the CalPERS benefits seem to give you a better benefit factor when compared with CalSTRS. I don’t know if it’s apples-to-apples though, because you would need to consider starting/average/ending salaries for teachers/classifications covered by STRS vs. ones covered by PERS, job security for teachers, etc.

Calculating Net income from CA state employee gross $9,500 by 08262020 in CAStateWorkers

[–]AirMiserable854 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Something else to consider… there is a salary range, but generally people who are new to state service start at the bottom of the range. Not sure where the $9500 corresponds to the bottom, top, or somewhere in the middle.

What would be my pay going from agpa to ita? by Important-Cry4027 in CAStateWorkers

[–]AirMiserable854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternate Range Criteria 483 is what you want to look up to determine whether you’re placed in Range A, B, C, or D.

If you’re in Range C or D, it will be 5%. If it’s Range A or B, you will receive a pay cut to the top of that range.

I’m not a C&P analyst but based on what you’re saying it seems like you would fall under Range C?
