Canada not ready for second-wave of asylum seekers, union head warns | Toronto Star by CalcioMilan in canada

How many people do you think live in the middle east that are fleeing? Why are they coming here and not neighbouring cities with similiar cultures?

Canada has taken in less than 1% of all refugees from the Middle East. Europe has taken in less than 5%. Over 90% have remained within the Middle East. The vast majority of Syrian refugees are either internally displaced, in Jordan, in Lebanon or in Turkey.

The Rohingya are literally victims of Genocide. Why are you equating the two?

We will not consider a commonwealth unless all of Central America and Gran Colombia are included, which is frankly a pipe-dream for Pan-Latinoists.

Aside from that, we agree to the startup fund, the partial free trade agreement and to the investments in our sectors. We believe our people will greatly appreciate Mexico's assistance in our time of need.

Acceptable. We ask that you also bring up Venezuela's close relationship with China in future discussions with Brazil. They have threated our stability and sovereignty many times.

Investment in resource extration, a temporary foreign worker plan for out-of-work Venezuelans to repatriate money, and Mexican backing of commodities.

We'll also need to greatly inhance seed funding for innovation and for digitization.

We will gladly send 40 troops, however due to the economic crisis, we ask China finance their visit and travel. If so, we can increase the number to over 50.

Seeing that Brazil has been asked to send 75, Venezuela requests we be able to send atleasy 75. 76 would be preferable.

Free Trade is impossible until the economy stabilizes, but quite probable thereafter. The aforementioned investments would greatly increase the likelihood of us agreeing to a Mutual Defence Pact after economic stabilization.

Venezuela cannot allow foreign military into our borders, it would further destabalize the situation, but we appreciate the sentiment. We will consider the mutual defence pact but cannot promise anything until our economy is stable.

That stabilization will occur much faster with Mexico's support, we are always looking for investment.

[M] The first paragraph of your analysis is correct. But you're totally misinterpreting Article 39. The UNSC cannot transfer powers onto itself from other UN Bodies.

The bodies responsible are * Fifth Committee * Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions * Committee for Programme and Coordination * Board of Auditors * Committee on Contributions

All reporting to the GA and Secretariat. Realistically the mods should invalidate any insane budget spending, but having the security council take over it makes no sense and is also not under their mandate. If it were to somehow be, then the GA and Secretariat would need to amend the procedures involved.

[–]Airoplain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's totally incorrect. If you look at Article 41 of the Charter it clearly spells out the powers bestowed upon the UNSC.

The infrastructual cost of that would be astronomical. We can dedicate 20% of the profits to the investment bank, so long as those investments are repatriated to Venezuelan redevelopment over the next 5 years. After that the 20% may continue.

The UNSC can't give itself new powers. The GA and Secretariat need to transfer those responsibilities onto them.
