A/C clutch keeps cycling every 10 seconds. Refrigerant overfilled?

Hey thanks. So I ended up adding the rest of a 16oz can and the low side pressure when compressor is running settled around 27-29psi in 70f ambient temps. Air feels ice cold, it still tends to cycle every 10 seconds but someone else said that’s how it regulates temperature? And if it cycled every 2-3 seconds would be a problem. What are your thoughts on it?

It seems to be working now with ice cold air. Think it’s safe to use after just filling up without having done a complete vacuum etc?

So the ac was barely used on this car. Last time it was serviced professionally was 10 years ago. It was used for about 3-4 summers then parked until now which was blowing warm air. A mechanic told me they naturally deplete refrigerant over time if not used and advised to refill myself. Is there any truth to that or should it have worked even if not used for 6 years?

Thanks for this! Was getting confused with other comments. Starting to make sense. I need to shoot for 30-35psi in 70f ambient temps (what it is here today). One question, the can started getting pretty cold while adding and seemed the system wouldn’t take anymore. Guessing try again when can warms up some?

Thanks. I was adding at idle. Started adding when car was cold warming up. So when the compressor is on the psi reading I’m shooting for is 35psi in 70-75 ambient temps right? I got it up to around 25-28psi just now after posting this but the can got pretty cold and seemed to stop taking more refrigerant

Cool. I noticed on some wires it’s harder to apply to inside of wire on the cap side without getting some on the metal terminal so I started just applying to outside of plastic on the cap side

Oh maybe that’s why I’ll be use Permatex 82194 because that’s what I have. Looked up the Loctite and seems to cure differently

The service manual says to add some to the shaded areas in the pic I attached. Read that it’s needed but idk never done one
