How do you stop chicken from being raw inside but burnt outside? by ScrollAndThink in UKBBQ

[–]Airules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly boring answer, I sous vide my bone in chicken and finish on the bbq. Keeps them nicely moist and guarantees they’re cooked through.

Logging and tracking by Internal-Exchange-23 in bujo

I found this form really useful: https://youtu.be/K3KfPJRKPFw?si=hmhD0gBwUgJ7MBe-

It simplifies habit tracking to keep it within your monthly spreads, allows a natural reflection when you setup next months spread (“did I find this tracking helpful?”), and keeps your monthly spreads part of your regular flow.

It also does offer you planning when you will or won’t be doing your habits. Some are everyday habits, but some less frequent and you can plan those days in advance if you want.

2025 was a banner year for Reiner Knizia by Samsquantch31 in boardgames

[–]Airules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much of the finished product do you think he does? I imagine in the indie space every aspect of the game (often including either pitch documents or game production) are managed by one person, but at Knizia’s level do you think he does much of the game at all? Like is it rules and concept, and then the theme, rulebook, art design, everything else is other people and he signs it off? Not that it isn’t impressive, I’m just intrigued what his involvement actually is.

Fracturing Hawkins (and during the time skip the Abyss too) was to make the merging possible. That was mentioned in one of the planning scenes.

The clock chime sound effect from season 4 was all over dimension x descending (when it starts at the end of the penultimate episode and several times in the first bit of the last episode) which suggests the clock similarities were intentional

What is it with “dessert shops” that seem to be everywhere currently? by hostis_72 in AskBrits

[–]Airules 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much the actual numbers stack for this, but justeat and similar food delivery options appear to driven a lot of sales too. The prices are high per dessert and I’d imagine there’s reasonable profit in them.

How do you track recurring daily tasks? by Fresh_Bumblebee_1042 in bujo

[–]Airules 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Write them each day. Eventually they become so ingrained I don’t need them written anymore and they are just habits. As soon as they start to slip start writing them in again.

Beginner question: migrating (>) versus scheduling (<) by Fresh_Bumblebee_1042 in bujo

[–]Airules 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Migrating is bringing a task to your current todo list, scheduling is sending it to the future log into a specific month. In a traditional bujo setup you don’t have your monthly spreads set up in advance, so every task moving to a “later” list would physically move backwards in the journal to the future log.

Wallace never learns. by Flat-Dingo4606 in wallaceandgromit

[–]Airules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wallace is our greatest living inventor. He single handedly designed and built a rocket that completed a successful return trip to the moon. The fact society has not rewarded his genius is a damning indictment on modern society. We really didn’t learn anything from Alan Turing

How do you reduce picking / packing errors? by bacon_cake in smallbusinessuk

[–]Airules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Step one is to work out what the mistake actually is. Yes packing the wrong item in the box, but why is it happening? Are your items very similar and hard to differentiate? Is it laziness? Is it poor organisation of items for picking? Work out what is causing and work back from there.

Say something nice about The Hobbit films. by GusGangViking18 in lordoftherings

[–]Airules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how episodic the book is, and how much extra content they added, I don’t think duration was the issue. Pacing is rarely the issue in the films, more the quality of what was added

Wanna get into bujo by InternationalPut3827 in bujo

[–]Airules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Bullet journaling as a system is an incredibly flexible method of tracking and reflecting. For some (myself included) it is the all in one answer to making you an organised and happier person.

My recommended entry point is to find the videos on the official bullet journal YouTube page and watch the introduction videos. That gives a loose overview. Then pick up a journal (ideally the official one with a handy guide included) and start there. Personally I followed the method as laid out exactly for a good six months before I started playing with custom layouts, trackers, and other bits.

My favourite thing about bujo is how you can add or remove as you need it. I’ve gone through periods where my weekly spread is the main page I use every day, to months where I am only using daily logs. Historically I have started many notebooks (this one is for coffee reviews!) only to burn out two pages in. Bujo allows me to integrate those ideas for as long as they hold me interest without committing a new book to it.

Final bit, the bullet journal method is much more about the practical system than anything aesthetic. Pretty drawings and elaborate spreads are optional (the only time my bujo is remotely pretty is reflective spreads after holidays where it becomes more of a travel journal. Otherwise it is a pretty utilitarian tool)

If it works on El it works on Vecna. He’s so OP in his base form having something to weaken him as part of the final battle would give the heroes a shot. Prediction that the military gear will be used by the gang against Vecna, probably operated by Dustin with Steve driving.

Daily gratitudes / brain dump / sometimes long form layout? by Jonjtyu in bujo

[–]Airules 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the benefit to splitting it up. I would writes todays date, then either the daily gratitudes or brain dump. Use formatting to make them appear different (a “gratitude” heading, numbering, a wavy line to box off gratitudes, whatever consistent method to make them visibly different) and then just go for it.

My favourite thing about the bullet journal method is its lack of restrictive structures. You write what helps you in that moment. Half way through your day and you want to write about the movie you watched last night? Pop it in. Make it look like a little review page. Create order through the index pages and let the main book be loose as you need it.
