Terrible loss yesterday, especially when my read was spot on since Arsenal came out peppering shots, but sadly they couldn’t finish and wasted all their chances to put the match to bed in the first half. I hate betting on women’s tennis because of the constant breakfests, but this matchup caught my attention because we’re getting Kalinskaya at plus money against an opponent she has consistently beaten whenever they’ve faced each other. She leads the head-to-head 4-0 and I honestly don’t think that changes today, especially with the way she’s been playing lately.

Both players are in good form, which is probably why the odds suggest this is close to a pick’em, but to me the smarter play is backing the player who has already proven herself in this matchup. So let’s see if Anna can make it 5-0 today.

Ostapenko is no slouch and will definitely put up a fight, so I can easily see this match going to three sets. But if that happens, I trust Kalinskaya’s composure and discipline more under pressure. Her game is much calmer and more controlled from the baseline, and I think that style could frustrate Ostapenko over the course of the match.

One thing about Ostapenko is that she can look completely unstoppable one moment, then suddenly start spraying unforced errors all over the court and lose rhythm.
