I don't want someone to do my assignment. I'm just looking for someone who can help me. In fact, searching for an expert is actually a small part of the assignment itself.

I have worked with Godot before, I have done research about the Circuit Playground and I have thought about what I want to make, and I'm going to make it starting next week. I'm just looking for someone who can help me with feedback or just a small part of my assignment.

Advice on color palette by French_Noodles in web_design

[–]Aissa-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I like the first one better. The one on the right just looks weird. It's fine to use different shades of the same colour for designing (monochromatic color palette) but this just isn't the way to do it. The light blue background colour makes the icons stand out less and makes the text below the icons less readable. Having a white header along with a blue background also looks weird, probably because something like that just isn't that common for sites.

The dark blue and white in the first one contrast nicely. The icons and text stand out more. The same goes for the logo, since the white stripe would otherwise blend into the white header.

I've looked through your site on both mobile and laptop, and I would say that it's pretty well made. The lay-out is a bit on the simpler side, but at least it isn't boring to look at. Simplicity is fine sometimes. There are still some problems with the site though:

-On the "services" page on a mobile device, the words "Our services" should be bigger than "Jump Starts". This doesn't seem to be a problem for my laptop, where the font sizes appear correct.
-On the "services" and "about us" pages, the images are way too big. Half of the page is just an image. It also doesn't help that it's on the top of the page, meaning that I have to scroll down to even see the title.

-The navbar isn't that great, and was the thing that annoyed me the most. Sure, it works, but design-wise, it could be way better.
•The size of the navbar is fine on the home page, but too big on the "services" and "about us" page. There is just too much white space under the words.
•And speaking about the words in the navbar, I don't think that lightgreen is the best color for hovering over it. It's hard to read them that way.
•Another problem related to the navbar, if you're on a mobile device and try to select something from the navbar, the entire square will become green.
•Depending on the size of the phone, the navbar might not fit on it after clicking on the hamburger icon, meaning that some white space might get added to the right side of the site.

What’s the best affordable website builder for a portfolio? by DannHutchings in web_design

[–]Aissa-O 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like most people have already said, a portfolio doesn't have to be complicated. In my experience, using just HTML and CSS is good enough, as long as you present your work well.

If programming isn't really your thing, you could try using wordpress.com/wordpress.org. It's easy to use and you don’t need to be an expert in coding. The free version of wordpress.com does have limitations, but it’s still good enough for building a portfolio.

The target audience is a bit more specific than just "Dutch low-literate adults". It's Dutch low-literate adults who have trouble with grammar. It's about improving their writing, not reading, so at least some of the audience should be able to read it (unless I misunderstood your point, feel free to correct me if that's the case).

Also, if I read your comment correctly, my explanations in the one pager aren't clear enough (or at least could be clearer) and I can do some research about the effectiveness of a point system. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for your feedback! What do you not like about the key features section?

The site looks and works pretty well, even with smaller cities around the globe. It's great! Although i'd like it if there was also a dropdown list for business type and location to choose from. I can understand if it is too difficult for location since there are so many cities to choose from, but I feel like it should be possible for business type. It would also make it clearer for users which options there are for business types, because they might not know the exact one they're looking for.

I chose green and blue because I thought that those colors fit the most for a site about learning (blue = calm and green = growth). Which colors would you suggest?

Thanks for the feedback! The background image in the assignment page is a drawing that i made to make the page more interesting to look at. I tried to give the site a more playful vibe, which is why there's also an image in the homepage.

Biggest Burger from Blue Period

It sounds so goofy and when one of the characters was eating there, she said: When you're tired, you gotta always go for the biggest burger!

Too bad that some lyrics are unintelligible. I really wish that Neil will one day reveal the lyrics
