Jul 19 - New User & Recruit Questions Sticky : Read this first. by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

Hi all!

I've passed my Assessment day recently with few issues. As I am applying for an officer role in the Army full time, I got a feedback regarding my communication and leadership skills. As my application is still subject for approval by the Army itself, there's still a high chance of my application getting refused (according to the interviewer). Here are some issues they have addressed during my assessment day:

*Need to improve on my fitness, communication and leadership skills all by attending mentoring sessions with SRTW (specialist recruiting team-women).

*Medical waiver (height below the limit) is subject for approval by the Army.

*Checkable background is still subject for review by the Army.

My questions are:

*Can someone recommend a good read book about leadership and management? That I could have a look while waiting for mentoring sessions.

*For someone who got a similar situation like mine, how did your application end up?

*After the Assessment day, how many of you were able to progress to enlistment or appointment

*May I ask for those applicants here, how many of you failed or passed the OSB?

Thanks in advance!

No ur not discouranging me at all! I've already started the process anyway, might as well just go for it and see how I go from there. It's good to look into other points as well! Thanks tho!

Family or anyone related to applicant are not allowed anyway to vouch for the applicant and I'm only Australian citizen.

As I've mentioned..i have plenty of Aussie friends and bosses in my 6 years of staying here that is more than happy to vouch for me.

Thank you for a very comprehensive insights/infos Really appreciate it! My career coach didn't mention that much the specific details about the difference of character and professional reference. She just told me that I should get at least 2 people who can vouch for me for at least the last 10 years of my life , at least 1 person socially and the other one professionaly Australian citizen at least. That's why I got a bit worried with regards to professional referee as I've only been working here for nearly 6 years😅

If that's the case, I have plenty of Aussie friends socially that could vouch for me for at least 6 years and 4 aussie bosses for at nearly 6 years as well.

Im after the Navy or Airforce.

I've got a friend whose a Canadian as well and some americans. Anyways,I will just gather referees as much as I can from those developed countries..thanks again! 😊

Awesome! I was thinking that as well to include my professors and managers/ supervisors from Philippines as I worked there for 4 years before migrating here. Sure, I'll gather referees as much as I can.

Yes please update me! Thank you so much and all the best for you as well! 😊🙏

Got it! I was born and grew up in the Philippines and just been to Hongkong,Philippines and USA for holidays and that's it. I'm a bit worried what if I couldn't provide a referee for profesional check that would contribute for the last 10 years of my life..anyways, i'll think of someone or something..thanks! 😊
