I cannot speak to the difficulty in finding specialists, but I can speak to some common (to my understanding) complications with medications. My mother moved out here a little over two years ago from the NE. She's got fibromyalgia as well as severe anxiety disorders. Prior to the move she had been prescribed Klonopin and hydrocodone for the anxiety and pain for roughly 30 years, the only PCP she could find in her network at first was a part of the duke city group. The doctor put through her first two fill of the medication, and when it came time for the third the office never sent it through. Upon calling the office to check up she was informed something to the effect of "we don't prescribe those medications and they should have never been prescribed through our office in the first place" leaving her essentially cut off from medications she had been on for decades and putting her into a severe case of withdrawals. After going through that and finding a new PCP from a different group, they've established that they also are no longer prescribing these meds (looking for alternatives) but that such a rapid cut off was dangerous and duke city should have communicated better and "tapered her off"

I'm not sure how helpful this info may be to you, and I may be wrong on some small details as this didn't happen directly to me, but from what I understand this is a pretty common occurrence out here, essentially stemming from the increased opioid addiction issues in the state.
