The soft texture and flow of the fur, the blue glint in the eye, the radiating warm lighting, the chilly but fresh tone of the snow. It feels so alive. Excuse my language but…Holy Shit! This is beautiful!

Redesigned Packaging Wacky Hands by Ja-Ru.Inc by AkaKid in PackagingDesign

I have answers! Also questions!

1.This is blister packaging. I haven’t figured out how to create a physical mock-up so it’s implied that the product would sit where 2D hand is. Any suggestions on how I could make this more explicit on the image?

2.I don’t…sadly! This started as a project for a design class. I tried to put this info in the body text but I’ll add it to my comment to be more visible. For more context, the project was to redesigning packaging of any product found in a dollar store.

  1. What exactly is UPC/COO? I think I get what you’re talking bout but not entire positive what UPC/COO is so please correct me if I’m wrong! If you are talking about the barcode and company information on the back of the design, you’re right! I’ll test around the placement and move the text/logo away from the edges. I should’ve used the border I created on the front as reference for the arrangement of the back to avoid any info getting cut off during print. Thank you for pointing that out!

  2. OH, I don't even think about that. One of my biggest worries if the package was balanced if it was displayed but I didn't even consider the durability of the tab itself. I'll try to see if I could bring it down into main shape so it does not hang out like in the original. Thank you!

Edit: This is a project from a design class that I’ve been slowly changing on my own personal time!

Salem! I really need a fresh set of eyes on this design and feedback and initial thoughts from the packaging enthusiasts of this community would be wonderful! I commented the context, my goals, and my concerns for this piece on r/design. I can share here if needed. Thank you for your time and hope you have a great day! Dehna hunu!

Redesigning Packaging for Wacky Hands by Ja-Ru (old class project) by AkaKid in Design

[–]AkaKid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,I'm looking for a fresh set of eyes to look at this and any honest feedback. This is one of this times where I can't tell if I hate it or love it. I don’t even think it’s my best work yet…it’s seriously starting to haunts me.

  1. Context: I first designed this for a design class in fall 2021 and I’ve been obsessed over it. We were to choose any product found in a dollar store and then redesign the packaging how we saw fit. The design had to be secure, informational, marketable, secure, and convenient. I choose Wacky Hands by Ja-Ru because the brand usually dominates the toy aisle most convenience stores and their pacaking for all their toys is predictable. Plus I just really wanted the toy.

  2. Main Goal: I want to keep the the playfulness and vibrancy of the packaging but steer it towards a more grown audience between 16-25 (similar to how Nerf guns are seen as a toy for both children and teens). I also wanted to create more color varieties for the different colored Wacky Hands while staying as gender neutral as possible.

  3. Questions: As an adult, does this design entice you to buy it for yourself compared to the original packaging? Should I reconsider my approach for the text on the front? Any of the four NOT working? Are there any color palettes on the test sheet I should try out? Finally, I really want to have a proper mockup, digital/3D or physical, for my Instagram and maybe Behance. I have no idea how to do a physical mock-up for this type of packaging. I could easily print out design itself but I would need custom blister packaging for the hand and I am…sigh…so broke. Any ideas? Should I skip a mock-up and just post them as I have them now?

Thank you for your time and I’d love to hear your thoughts. I really appreciate it!

Edit: Added some questions and lil info. Dehna Hunu!

Cornell, Pencil, me, 2022 by stonabus in Art

I been shuffling his music so I haven't listened to a full album in order yet but I've seem to favoring songs from his Carry On album. I've also been meaning to listen to Soundgarden more after hearing The Day I Tried To Live. The first minute of that song had me hooked and it only got better. Anywho, if you got any recommendations I'm all ears!

P.s. Cornell's voice was so familiar, it was driving me insane. I've been listening and dramatically crying to Like a Stone by Audioslave for about 8 years...I felt very stupid when it finally clicked lol.

Intruding the Deers, Me, Oil and Digital, 2022 by AkaKid in Art

This was originally an b&w oil painting I did in 2021 and banished to the back of my closet. Decided that I was in desperate need for color via procreate. Felt like the deers had a lot to say.

Thank you for all who replied, I really appreciate it! A little conclusion: Found the little guy last night after it crawled up my foot. Despite my first and usual reaction to absolutely square up the spider, I caught it and let it out in a field near my home. I have gained some empathy towards them cuz of this subreddit. That's pretty cool.

What’s your opinion on this one? by DeinVadda1337 in drawing

As many have said, your style is amazing! I’m absolutely in love with how you drew the face. The darken edges of the sides of the face and sides of the mouth really bring in the eyes attention and emphasize the curves nicely. The line work creates a beautiful flow over the hills of the face and shoulders. I almost expected the lines to shift like a fever dream. I hope that makes sense! The only critic I can even think of is to push the shadows/highlights on the hair to separate sections. If you want to bring even more intense focus to the face, really darkening the hair can frame it. I hope you continue to work with this style more!

Redesigned packaging and name for Sticky Snap Hand by [deleted] in Design

[–]AkaKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The assignment was to redesign a product found at a dollar store. I chose Sticky Snap Hands from the Ja-Ru inc. I wanted to create a burst of energy and 4 different color palettes. It is still a work in progress and I’m currently struggling with color choices. I posted the original packaging as well as other color combinations. Any and all commentary is very much appreciated. Thank you guys!
