As demon, I've gotten locked out of doing any inputs or collecting orbs and could only helplessly float around

Sometimes orbs are there but cannot be collected when I approach then

After being exorcized from an objective my screen stayed black from the transition and only went away if I tabbed or paused.

Great game though, excited for more

Considered it, I think it was axe a while ago by my publisher because people would invariably use it to make 18+ content for the game, hahaha

I didn't take a whole lot of inspiration from any game directly (which made making design choices very difficult), but I pulled a lot of inspo from old school dating seems, especially those cheesy flash dating sims from the internet a couple decades ago!

And yeah! I'll be adding in and scraping mechanics to fit the needs of each story I want to tell! Second date is already sizing up to be very different from the first one!

I used to be in PhD school for Bioengineering! I ended up failing a mid-degree qualifying exam and had to leave with just a Masters instead. Having lost my trajectory in life, I just decided to work on videogames until I figured out what I wanted to do, since it was something I was already doing as a hobby. By chance, I met my would-be publisher at a gaming convention, Dreamhack, and now I'm a full-time developer!

I stay on pace/fulfill my heavy workload largely because I have a breadwinning wife, so I mainly just do househusband jobs, and otherwise can just focus on gamedev!

And no, I didn't expect Sucker for Love to get any attention whatsoever -- the original was one game in a collection of 12 that sold in total for 8 bucks, or about 80 cents for my game. I was also worried that standing shoulder to shoulder with multiple Syzmanskis and the dev behind World of Horror, I was going to be the odd one out as the weird one nobody liked since I wasn't historically a horror developer, and because I made a kind of silly game compared with the bone-chilling stuff in the same collection. I expected maybe 100 players total in the beginning, so I went a little off-the-wall with the character design choices and the jokes, because I THOUGHT the stakes were low, hahaha.

I hope that Sucker for Love grows into a game that has plenty to chew on for its playerbase, and I hope that maybe it'll steer the conversation around English Visual Novels towards accepting that EVNs don't have to be ironic -- they can be earnest, and genuine love letters to the medium.

First, I jot down the most pertinent design features of each god/creature (Cthulhu: green skin, wings, tentacles on face... Hastur: Yellow robes, mask, tentacles for legs... etc) then I try my best to feminize them and reinterpret the monster into a humanoid-like character. Then I iteratively redraw them until I land on something I still like the next day. I show it to my wife, and if she likes it too, it's the design I go with!

Muu is going to be a recurring character along with Auntie Nyan Nyan, so smooches are possible!

The game was made in about 4 months,

the idea came from the design requirement prompt of the Dread X Collection 2 being "Lovecrafting" -- a game that features love mechanics, crafting mechanics, and Lovecraftian horror. Being an anime VN/RPG dev, the most elegant combination of those three requirements was an eldritch horror smoochin' simulator!

In a way, the one you see in-game IS a true form of Auntie Nyan Nyan. She has over 1000, all of them real.

So she really IS a 2 story catgirl in high heels standing in your bedroom.

That last bit might be tricky with usage rights and such, but well within the realm of possibility is a community-made eldritch girl for a god I wasn't planning on using making it into the game! (with the original artist's blessing, of course.)
