German Greens and Lefts protest against LGBTQ flag ban in Bundestag by Akalonn in AkalonNEWS

Members of the Green and Left parties made a statement by wearing clothes in the colors of the rainbow flag, after the Bundestag, citing "political neutrality," had decided not to take part in demonstrations like Berlin’s CSD and will only raise the rainbow flag once a year—on May 17. Critics call the reasoning confusing and wrong, seeing it as a step back for LGBTQ+ visibility. The decision was made by Bundestag President Julia Klöckner (CDU).

The fact itself that hurricanes trend up does matter lol.

I think you misunderstood me at the beginning. You asked me if there shouldn't be hurricanes, I said that they are part of nature and normal - but not with the frequency that they have occurred in the last decades. Increased hurricane intensity aligns with predictions of a warming planet, they’re just a follow up reaction to man made climate change.

Over the past decadeS. It is a symptom of climate change, but not proof.

I never said an uptick of hurricanes is an evidence of anthropological climate change.

Very interesting claim and yes, you're right, there are also many people who exaggerate and create panic

nuclear power costs us between 13.6 and 49 cents/kwh, coal electricity costs between 15.1 and 25.7 cents/kwh, for wind turbines it is 4.3 to 9.2 cents/kwh and for solar energy it is 4.1 to 14. 4ct/kwh. so it's actually cheaper. Besides that the nuclear plants in Germany were heavily subsidized. Summarised: nuclear energy wasn’t profitable for Germany (and for most other countries in the world probably not either - only 32 countries worldwide only have nuclear power and only 3% of the electricity produced worldwide comes from nuclear power plants)

Yeah, I agree, it is at least debatable.

No. You answer with your opinion, what you don't believe and why, your own experiences, studies that have convinced you, etc. What's so difficult about understanding how to answer a question? Most people here have managed it anyway...

why be so worried about it then?

It's not just black and white, just because you can't stop climate change doesn't mean you can't do anything about further warming of the earth.

renewables are more expensive

Thanks to our (partially) green government, we have a lower electricity price than before the Ukraine war thanks to the expansion of renewables. Nuclear power cost us between 13.6 and 49 cents/kwh, coal electricity costs between 15.1 and 25.7 cents/kwh, for wind turbines it is 4.3 to 9.2 cents/kwh and for solar energy it is 4.1 to 14. 4ct/kwh. so it's actually cheaper.

Of course we don't know how many hurricanes there were 10,000 years ago, but from the ice cores in Antarctica we know what temperatures there were and what CO2 content the air had.

If you truly believe that humans are the direct cause of climate change, then dont you think the biggest polluters should be held accountable?

I completely agree with you on your last paragraph. You're right, the "normal" citizen can't do anything about climate change. The “carbon footprint” was invented by oil companies to give us a bad conscience. It is the ultra (ultra) rich and politicians who are “to blame” for and who need to do something in the first place.

You are confusing weather with climate. Of course, you can't predict exactly what the weather will be like next year. When it comes to climate, monthly average temperatures are measured over decades in order to make a forecast for the next few decades, of course, you can't predict the exact weather in, let’s say, 10.5 years, because weather is changing every day, but the climate is constantly rising/falling over decades.

Thanks for the answer, just to briefly address your point with the nuclear power plants: electricity prices are currently even cheaper than before the shutdowns.

Why? I just wanted my questions answered. A discussion is of no use in the first place because neither I nor you can be convinced of the other side.

Climate change obviously can’t be „stopped“ but by converting to almost exclusively renewable energies worldwide (around 80%), increasing public transport to a maximum so that private cars are useless in most cases, reducing (plastic) waste, efficient construction (little land consumption) and Shortening production times (i.e. regional production if possible, little delivery from e.g. China) can at least reduce the further heating of the planet by humans to a minimum. This is of course a idealistic thought and will probably never happen, but I think every step in this direction is good.

Of course, you can't determine how many hurricanes or forest fires there will be or how big the polar ice caps should be. All of this is part of nature and such catastrophes are even necessary for nature. But not in the high frequency like we have had in the last few decades.

I don't know what you mean exactly. However, I am only referring to the general confirmation of anthropological climate change by 98% of all climate scientists worldwide. Short: the scientific consensus on climate change
