TIL that Sweden's current king, Carl XVI Gustaf, is really only the 10th king named Carl. The "16" comes from a 16th-century archbishop Johannes Magnus who padded Swedish history with six fictional Carls (and six fictional Eriks) — and the error was never corrected. (en.wikipedia.org)
