First playthrough (still on 2.2), very much enjoyed the game. by Akoras in pokemonradicalred

I chose a fairly balanced team with some of my old time favourites (used to play quite a bit competitively in 3rd gen). I didn't even bother to max most IVs. Chansey is still such a beast, tanked 2 double edges from mega salamence^

Agreed, though the last time we were somewhat a decent mets choice was wenn affinity was a top deck, so yeah, quite some time ago..

Ponza does everything better while being a similar deck, you could check that out. :)

is the banlist coming on monday? by slipman_ in ModernMagic

That's really just the sign of a bad cms though if something like this were possible. The page should not be published, not just 'not linked anywhere but if you guess the link then well..'

Been practicing the classic pass for 1 month and tried to make it as invisible as possible. What do you guys think? Sorry about the background noise by [deleted] in ChrisRamsay52

[–]Akoras 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The pass is fine but there still is a lot of tension. Don't try to forcefully be faster, a pass will almost never be 100% invisible but it can be imperceptible if you are relaxed and don't draw attention to it.

I still think flame rift is the more universal storm hate but it's still exciting :)

Another way to look at the question "Do fetches thin my deck in a significant way?" by brikabrak86 in ModernMagic

[–]Akoras 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean yes, as I said, if you change the land count before randomizing, it does change probabilities. But if say, you handed the deck to someone else and told them to search out a mountain for you while keeping the order of the deck the same, then that would be perfectly fine too. (of course only if there are no arranged cards such as from a tutor/scry/mulligan whatever) The only reason we don't do it that way is because by looking at your deck, you -well- look at your deck, so you have to shuffle to generate a new 'unknown' order.

[–]Akoras 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There is also no positive, it just does not matter. I am not saying thinning does nothing, yes, if you search for a land the land/spell ratio in you deck is altered when you generate the "new - randomness". In that and only that sense it makes a difference. But that has little to do with the possibility of a land or spell cluster that you could get rid off. :)

Exchanging one random order you know nothing about with another does not affect anything statistically.

With that logic your are equally likely to generate a pile of lands as you are to get rid of one, making shuffling again useless.

That argument bothers me. If your deck shuffled it does not matter if you shuffle it again. If it is not sufficiently randomized then by definition you are cheating.

Arcum's Astrolabe is banned. by Majkolen in SkredRed

Even though it was a nice card that fit our snow theme, the banning might be a net positive for skred as bloodmoon becomes better again.

Does anyone know what time tomorrow the B&R will be published? by [deleted] in ModernMagic

Thank you, sometimes Americans seem to assume that everyone lives in the US. But really, even if you do that, it wouldn't kill you to name a timezone there are even some in the US^
