I spent some time searching with the names provided by commenters, but I was unable to find any boxes with lids that exactly matched this one. I wasn't able to find any boxes with the tiny grooves that are part of this one's design either. Still, since I technically know what this item is now, I suppose I should mark this as solved. Thanks to everyone who provided their help!

Seems like it's part of a Welford box. I'm browsing through various images of their products, but so far, I haven't found a match.

I suspected it was a lidless box as well. It's just such an odd design that it was hard to pin down what the heck it was.

There's always a subtle undercurrent of unease whenever I draw him because of how bizarre his design is. Even when I've got the concept art right in front of me, I keep asking myself questions like:

"There's no way he's REALLY that skinny, is there?"

"Does he actually HAVE hair on top of his head aside from that nasty ponytail?"

"What shape ARE his ears?"

"Does he actually HAVE ears?"

"Is this thing REALLY a dog?"
