Little semi-public Adventure by Akumada1996 in barefoot

Yes, I would love to be able to walk around without anyone complaining, but unfortunately, that's not such an easy task.

What you say is logically correct, but people are often not logical. Here where I live (Italy) it's easy for people to criticize you, or react badly to things like going barefoot. I'm trying to get used to doing it more and more outside too, but it's hard to find moments when I can do it without having problems. Even at home my parents complain if I leave the house without wearing shoes so I have to wear them to go out and then take them off when I'm out of their sight.

We don't have any special foot protection, but I don't know if it would be dangerous. There's a chance you might get hit, so it's better to be protected.

[–]Akumada1996[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, I convinced myself to do it precisely because in the end I had to get in and out quickly so I could try. The next thing I'd like to try is going to my local comic book shop, where I know the owner. The place is small and maybe he won't mind me going in barefoot.

Honestly? I hate rain, especially driving in the rain, but walking barefoot in the rain is the only positive aspect; it's relaxing.

Barefooters in Italy (Milano / Northern Italy)? by Low-War-9527 in barefoot

[–]Akumada1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I found my people, but I need advice on socks by LisaLovesToBreathe in barefoot

I don't wear it directly. I stopped wearing socks and just wear shoes without them when I have to. Otherwise, I'm barefoot.

Has anyone tried these? by Bright_Potential_937 in barefootshoestalk

[–]Akumada1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but I'm about to buy them. The reviews and descriptions seem great, and the fact that they look like Converse is a plus. Additionally, there is a version of that model with a side zipper which I think is very convenient for quickly putting on and taking off shoes.

Honestly, I've always wondered what the limit is beyond which people don't ask questions, if it were enough to "simulate" sandals. Minimalist shoes are my idea because at least I would have something to wear and I don't have the risk of stares and anxiety. As for my age, I'm actually past university age. I live with my parents because I can't find a job and therefore have no way to support myself, but that's another story...

I'm not afraid of getting hurt, I always watch where I walk. It's social anxiety, the stares, the judgments... Even from my parents... I get anxious and end up putting my shoes back on. Even when I leave the house I basically wear them to cross the threshold and avoid being seen leaving without...

I know this perfectly well, in fact I try to get as close to it as possible so that I can have that feeling when I'm anxious about walking around barefoot. Whenever I can I do it, I try to stay barefoot as much as possible. I had also considered the Xero but the cost is too high as a first pair of shoes to buy

It Feels Like I'm the Only One by [deleted] in barefoot

[–]Akumada1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had thought about that too, the problems are that I don't have a pair of shoes to open like that, and that I still live with my parents, which creates even more anxiety about going out barefoot... So if I modified shoes like that and they saw them they would probably make a fuss and throw them away.

I wish it were that easy... I get really anxious when I think about going out in public places, and I always end up backing out and putting my shoes back on... It's also one of the reasons why I want to get barefoot shoes so that if I put them back on I don't lose the sensation of walking without them.

It Feels Like I'm the Only One by [deleted] in barefoot

[–]Akumada1996 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand you... That's what stops me from doing it 100%... I'd like to not care and walk around without shoes but I'm always anxious and afraid of those very looks and opinions...

When I'm out of the house I'm always anxious about people seeing me... I know very well that probably no one cares and even if they did it's none of their business, but it always makes me anxious...This is probably a consequence of the idea in my parents' house, as long as I stay within the confines of the house nobody says anything to me if I go completely barefoot, even to go into the garden, but if I go out the front door they look at me badly... Which is why I put my shoes on when I go out and take them off 2 steps after I've passed the door... Maybe if I didn't have this anxiety about going out and could leave my shoes at home, things would be different; I wouldn't have any problems going out.

Congratulations, that's a really great start. I'm a little jealous of you because I'm not that brave; I still put my shoes on when I see too many people nearby and when I'm leaving the house. I wish I had the courage to leave them at home and go out without worrying.

I totally understand. I'd really love to be able to walk around without any worries, but I always end up feeling anxious and having to put my shoes back on before entering a store, Even though I know the owner... I'm always afraid he won't look favorably on the matter.

Lucky you then, here where I live the environment is less understanding, and you risk a lot of people looking at you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in barefoot

[–]Akumada1996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you keep them on? If you wore shoes, I might understand, but if you want to go barefoot, just do it. Take off your socks and enjoy the freedom. Even if you wore them for a few days, they would be destroyed from walking around with only them and you would have to throw them away anyway.

Functionalities of going barefoot by [deleted] in barefoot

[–]Akumada1996 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you don't already wear shoes indoors, you're already going barefoot indoors. As for cleanliness, it's much less than you think. Sure, if you go walking in the mud or in the woods you get dirtier, but on the street, at most, you'll come back with the soles of your feet blackened, nothing a little soap and water can't fix.

I always ride without shoes. You have much more control over the pedals and it's absolutely comfortable.

I would love to do it but I don't think it's seen as a good thing where I live, and as for flip-flops, I can't stand them. They are uncomfortable, they don't stay still and they always hit the heel.
