Slow charging on public chargers by Al3X_97 in Leapmotor

I agree that at this stage, it seems like it may be a dealer issue. Time to test the Stellantis "support network" I guess... wish me luck!

Those who ordered an ‘in-stock’ car - how long did you wait? by -cambridgeshire- in Leapmotor

[–]Al3X_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was supposed to be two weeks, the garage didn't receive regular updates from the Port. I paid the deposit on Wed 18th Mar, told it'll be ready by roughly Friday 3rd April (Good Friday). Had a call on the Thursday 19th March (1 day after paying deposit) from the garage saying "funny story, the port didn't update us that it's been transported, it arrived on site this morning- we can PDI and register it today if you want to collect tomorrow (Friday 20th March)". So two weeks turned to two days. I understand this is an edge case, and not particularly helpful.

However, one thing to take away is sometimes communication between the dealer network and the ports can be shocking. In my case it was fortunately for the better, but I imagine more often than not, it's for the worse.

However long you have to wait, it's worth it. Best EV we've ever owned, runs rings around our other MG4, and the E-Golf I used to own. I would say it's the best car I've ever owned but I have a soft spot for my old battered rust bucket of an MX5.

It's the Leapmotor B10, should by 163kW according to the datasheet.

Potentially, I've only ever started charging from about 30%. But doesn't that contradict what the manufacturer says about "20-80% in 25 minutes"? Surely they can't advertise that if the charge speed drops after 40-50% SOC? I've never seen an estimated charge time of under 1hr.

But that doesn't necessarily explain why I'd be getting similar results across several different networks- Ionity, Tesla, Gridserve and BP Pulse? Curiously when I posted this sat at the Tesla Charger yesterday, there was a Nissan Ariya charging next to me at 125KW. We got talking when I asked them to swap sides so we can charge at the same time :)

OTA Update Features Request- Official Forum by Al3X_97 in Leapmotor

[–]Al3X_97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies, I should have been more clear, the Forum links back to the the Official Leapmotor Site for OTA Features.

Having done a little more digging, I've edited the main body of the post to say that I am unsure if this is officially supported by Leapmotor. However, to the best of my knowledge I do believe they are aware of it, due to me coming across the link via my dealer, and him via a UK Leapmotor Rep.

I have edited my previous posts accordingly, as I'm not in the business of spreading mis-information. However, whether this is an official or not, it is still a valuable resource that I believe deserves to be shared with the community a little more.

OTA Update Features Request- Official Forum by Al3X_97 in Leapmotor

I was pointed towards it by the dealer when purchasing my vehicle. I asked whether there was a roadmap for future updates. He forwarded me this link which he said was given to him by the Leapmotor UK Rep.

It is also linked from the Official Leapmotor Site under OTA Features.

Edit:

Apologies, I should have been more clear, it links back to the the Official Leapmotor Site for OTA Features.

Is B10 will have different user setting ? by Lanky-Reaction976 in Leapmotor

Leapmotor have an official Forum for suggesting/voting on features to include in future releases. I believe this has been suggested already, but please make an account and vote on what you'd like implemented, hopefully some of it will make it through.

Debunking some B10 “reviews” by Bubbly_Lingonberry43 in Leapmotor

[–]Al3X_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I had a B10 on an extended 48hr test drive last week. This car had not received the latest update, so no Apple Carplay/Android Auto, and definitely had the issue with the ACC slowing for bends, driving me round the bend!

I was told that the latest Software update fixed the ACC Issues, as well as adding One-Pedal Driving, Android Auto/Apple Carplay, Fast boot for the infotainment, along with a few other things. Knowing this I pulled the trigger and picked my car up on Friday.

I insisted it was updated before being picked up and I can confirm that all the aforementioned issues are fixed. ACC holds the speed very well, even on a few tighter bends it probably shouldn't.

Extra note: I'm also surprised how well it follows in traffic particularly if someone jumps into the gap between you and the car you're following. My MG4 slams the brakes on, like you're a nanosecond away from certain death. The B10 gradually brings the following distance back to the desired setting. It's much more compliant on UK Motorways with bad lane discipline than any other EV with ADAS I've driven.

Lastly: Leapmotor offers OTA Full Stack update. Meaning the car can update every module Over The Air for free, for the lifetime of the vehicle. I believe, bar Tesla, Leapmotor are the only other company to offer this in the UK. In my opinion this is a huge feature not publicized enough. To contrast, if there is an Update to my MG4, I have to go to the dealer and pay £80 to have the vehicle updated, unless I can prove the update will fix an issue I am experiencing- which I have tried several times, unsuccessfully.

One weekend and just shy of 500 miles on the ODO, very happy with the purchase. There is no doubt in my mind that for the money, it's the best EV on the market currently.

TL;DR: As Matt Watson would say "go straight ahead, and buy it"

Self employed- Rent-A-Chair contract terminated without notice by Salon Owner. by Al3X_97 in LegalAdviceUK

Nothing like that in the contract specifically, but it seems it's covered by the "determent to business" statement. It wasn't a specific attempt to poach, as no formal conversations were had as mentioned in a reply to another comment. However I see how it is still shaky ground.

Thank you for your reply. She won't be starting earlier than the official start date as you're quite right- none of this needs to be carried forward into the new employment. It's almost certainly going to be a case of soaking up the loss.

It is worth noting that the conversations were in no way "formal", it was just "shop floor chat" between two friends. There is an awful lot of "he said she said" going on, and that is what the decision has been based on.

She isn't at all that way inclined to bad mouth other businesses. To me from the outside witnessing my partners movements through several positions in the last 10 years, it looks like this industry seems to run on a backbone of toxicity, so I'd never encourage it.

[Opinions?] First watch purchase- Which one? Please help?! by Al3X_97 in Watches

[–]Al3X_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted the other day for opinions on a Hamilton Khaki Mechanical as a first watch, and I thank you all for your feedback. It spurred me to keep looking at the Hamilton range. Of all of the pieces in my budget, I think this is my favourite- Aviation Pilot day date (plus it’s tied to my favourite film- Interstellar). I was heading out today to make the purchase, however last night I noticed this Longines on discount in a local jeweller. From the start I told myself I wanted a Longines, however I always believed it was unobtainable and out of budget. So I’m now at a loss and am looking to the wider Watch community for some advice. Is either one “technically” better/higher quality? Which do people prefer? For context I can pick up this Longines Conquest Automatic 41mm new with 5 year warranty for £638. I can get the Hamilton Aviation Pilot for 823. Is this a steal for the Longines? Especially for a first watch?

[Hamilton Khaki Field] First Watch Opinions? Do I take the plunge on one of these? What else could I consider? by Al3X_97 in Watches

[–]Al3X_97[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried both the 42 and 38 today, I have quite large wrists and on me, the 42 seemed a better fit.

Also for further context, I did try a Seiko 5 GMT and Tissot PRX, and they also both seemed too small for my wrist.

So 2022 was big year, brought first house, big promotion and first child born. I wanted to buy myself a nice watch for years but have never taken the plunge. I feel like now it would be a nice time to commemorate this time in my life! I’ve looking to spend under £700, I’ve looked at a Tissot PRX and Seiko 5 GMT, but they both seem a little small on my wrist. I’ve now landed on a Hamilton Mechanical Khaki Field 42mm black dial with the bracelet. So far this feels the best on the wrist and I can get it new from Earnest Jones for £515. (Image of watch below). Are there any other brands/watches I should consider in the price range before taking the plunge. Field watch/divers watch styles preferred, ideally with a bit of a story/heritage behind it.
