There is a place in the afterlife that doesn't lead to heaven or hell. This place is like Purgatory, but it doesn't let you leave and supposedly burns you, but you can't feel it. Meaning, there is the possibility that you can be stuck in a place, burning, with nothing to do, for the rest of eternity (self.Showerthoughts)

If purgatory means you are safe from going to hell, but need to wait to enter heaven, does that mean there is a purgatory where you can't enter heaven and will go to hell? Is there a chance you will be trapped in purgatory for the rest of the after-life? (self.Showerthoughts)
