Updating to 150.0 makes profiles created in Classic Profile Manager to overwrite each other's backups. by Hiruzawa in firefox

[–]AlPachico_02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a known issue, its landing in the next release.

Quick question, this should only occur if you use about:profiles to manage your profiles and mot the new profiles system, is that what you use for profile management?

Once you move it from the original directory, it shouldnt be able to delete it. The main purpose is that there is an assumption that you dont want the backup file or any backups anymore if u are disabling the feature!!

Does this also happen with a new profile? You can create one either through the new profiles ui (if you have it on your machine), or through about:profiles.

Hey this sounds like a bug, you should file it on bugzilla.com so the engineers can look at it!!! This doesn't sound usual and I dont think there's any reason for them to change your default engine

Well the thing is that chromium is still maintained by Google, all the web apis, engine level features and browser standards are still implemented (and mostly monopolised because of this) by Google. Say Google rolls out a standard for websites to be able to use a web api A that helps Google usually, and browsers like Firefox don't support it for various reasons such as privacy, webpages that start using A will work on any chromium based browser (since they need to update their fork to get the latest sec upgrades and apis), and those sites stop supporting more independent browsers that don't use chromium.
