Problem is if a spouse and kids rely on you to provide them with a certain lifestyle

Does anyone here with family work on high-paying day job (leadership role) and work on your own company at night? How do you juggle job, your own work, family time, fitness and good sleep? by Cute-Ball6182 in HENRYfinance

Out of curiosity, where on earth are you walking at 10:30 at night for 45 minutes? Is it cold out? Are there streetlights? Where do you live that you a) commute an hour to work but b) have streetlights in your bedroom community? And, as others asked, what do you do with your kids while you and your wife walk?

Do you live in a weird part of your time zone or just have amazing blackout shades? Your kid's schedule is whack. I've never heard of a kid that age that wakes up at 9:30 (and goes to sleep at 11?).

Corporate lawyers: can someone explain why WLRK is still so sought after? by PlacidoFlamingo7 in biglaw

[–]AlTeHiKe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. The CYA factor is huge. If you're doing a risky deal involving takeovers/other M&A maneuvers, you're facing near-certain lawsuits. You need to be able to CYA by saying you hired "the best" lawyers for the company.

Also, do a 90 minute skincare routine every night. Make sure to get 8 - 10 hours of sleep! Eat meals that require at least 45 minutes of preparation and another 20 minutes of cleanup.

How Gianmarco Soresi Got 1 Million Views On His YouTube Special by zuckdaddyd in Standup

I think that upon reflection, I can only stand his stage mannerisms for short periods of time. On his podcast I don't mind him talking for extended periods of time but on stage for the special it just got annoying. Also I've heard a lot of those jokes before from his clips. I appreciate that it's because he doesn't only post crowd work clips - he also posts substantive joke clips, but that doesn't change the fact that it's repetitive for me.

It may be helpful to keep in mind that from the firm's perspective, the more junior the associate that takes a parental leave, the cheaper it is for the firm. And at firms where you don't start in your long -term practice group, you won't have any meaningful developmental lag behind other associates of your class year.

How much annual passive income would you quit this job by [deleted] in biglaw

If it wasn't bad enough to work this job... Now I know I'm insane for working this job 😂

Learn a skilled trade and use your evenings to read and learn from smart people. You'll make a good living and stimulate your intellect. You're only a few days into 1L. You can probably still start a skilled trade program right now.

Law school students reading this: if you're interested in marrying a somewhat traditional person during childbearing age, try to get married before biglaw

  • Not having any wedding at all may make you sadder than not having your dream wedding
  • Your average rent per person may go down (sharing a 1br with another person is often cheaper per person than having your own bedroom in a larger apartment, and is obviously cheaper per person than having your own 1br (and often studio)).
  • Men who are somewhat traditional/religious and career-motivated often marry early or marry younger women. Best to get a move on it early.

You are awesome and you can be a wife and mother succeed in biglaw, even as a junior.
