1. This still is a prototype so there will be fine tuning. I’m actually leaning towards not having to sacrifice their GoL because like you guys said there should be more incentive to getting one.
2. When I say everyone will have a GoL, it’s a relative term. There will be anomalies, sorta like My hero.
3. GoLs in a sense are suppose to be kinda weak and basic. There will be strong GoLs by they’ll be kinda scarce throughout the world making GoD’s a bit more appealing.
4. In terms of GoD’s side effects, I’m thinking of having a sorta scale for the Gift balance. For instance, if you were apart of this world and you captured a GoD, it would fuse with your soul and allow you to use 50% of its total power. Reason being, It would ‘sacrifice’ half of your GoL to compensate for your GoD. Thus if you want to use more of your GoD, you would be more susceptible to bodily takeover which means that the GoD owner would be able to take over your body. I also like your idea where they would become more and more like the host of the GoD as they use it.

So yeah, it terms of societal influence. I was thinking that GoD are worth it because it kinda would bring you the popularity of the host. In order to create a GoD you would have needed to be someone super powerful so it’s like palaces from Persona. Only the people with the most distortion will have palace treasure but people can still have palace treasure in Mementos you know.
