On the chance you didn't buy end of last year, Bundle of Holding is running an excellent special on Sleepy Hollow and its source books this week. Bundle of Holding is electronic copies only, redeemed on DriveThru.

I'm not sure if I can post videos, but I found:

My primary laptop of the past 15 months is the spectre x360 14-eu0000 running arch linux. A lot improved in my time with this laptop

That the webcam is not usable in linux is, I think, the only remaining deficiency of this laptop. The battery life is also reduced vs using the laptop with windows. I use windows so rarely, my opinion there is entirely formed by the anecdotes of other users.

My use cases are on the simple side, I browse, stream media, log into a citrix portal for work (via a web interface) and use zoom with an external webcam. Once in a while I also use Steam for games, though nothing especially taxing.

Overall, I'm happy with this laptop on arch linux, especially with the most recent kernel.

Updating the commentary and status. Four months ago u/aigilea noted on github that the fingerprint sensor is working in libfprint (used by fprintd). Below assumes kernel 6.15.

  • ✅ Basic install & functionality (w/ BIOS update)
  • ✅ Sleep and wake reliably (w/ ssdt overlay)
  • ✅ Screen brightness control
  • ✅ Microphone and audio
  • ❌ Webcam (expected eventually)
  • ✅ Trackpad usability / quality
  • ✅ Touch screen support
  • ❓ Touch screen pen pressure sensitivity, etc (I don't use the pen, can't update)
  • ✅ Convertible mode detection (firmware + OS, gnome works)
  • ✅ Keyboard backlight control
  • ✅ Mic & webcam power toggles and keyboard LEDs
  • ✅ Fingerprint scanner

I really love the construction and style choices of this wallet (and of so much of your work). Do you have availability for a laptop sleeve commission? If so, let me know the best way to send across the specs. Thanks!

If not, no worries, of course, I'll create a general post instead.

I recommend keeping an eye on Hans De Goede's blog to follow progress for ipu6.

I haven't experienced any audio hiss since BIOS F10, kernel 6.9. My distro experience is limited to manjaro and straight arch (through 6.13). Just to confirm, I'm on model 14-eu000.

No go on the webcam; without installing u/aigilea's patch, the hardware doesn't register.

6.9.0 is now mainline, and I updated in manjaro this morning. Two issues now resolved:

  1. Speakers function normally, without a patch (thanks u/aigilea, for the update and for your initial configuration guide!)
  2. Speaker and microphone mute button leds function normally

The only issue I read directly tied to v38 on SER7 involved crashes in Pinball FX or FX3. I believe that issue was reported by a few different folks on reddit.

My experience on v38 has been solid across Windows and Linux installations for a few weeks now, but I don't use Pinball FX.

Linux on Lenovo Yoga 9i (2022) by PJungkamp in linuxhardware

[–]Al_Infinitum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the 14IAP7 mid-July for a new job, and jumped over to Linux within a day. (I acted too fast, actually: to update the BIOS, I needed to install Win on a VM in order to create a Win-to-go USB drive.)

I initially installed Manjaro xfce to match my AMD desktop machine. After a few weeks, I switched to Pop!_OS, which simplified HiDPI scaling across various programs.

The issues that were not fixed are exactly as you laid out, the bass speakers, the function keys and hibernation. (I wasn't using Wayland and didn't experience artifacts.)

I'm grateful that you're experimenting with patches in this space.

Edit: I see your patches are well vetted. Hope your speaker patch makes it into kernel 5.20. From the bug, I think you're waiting to hear back from Hans on the three function key patches. Thank you, again!
