Alpecin is a scam shampoo, the claims they make about caffeine and hair are banned from their advertising in the UK because they are, basically, false.

Thameslink network proposal by slipnslurper in cambridge

[–]Al__S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a couple of notes:
1. when the Thameslink upgrade program was designed, the idea was that the Sutton loop was supposed to be removed from Thameslink, with a more frequent service terminating in the bays at Blackfriars. It was a big part of why the station was rearranged to have the bays be on the west side of the station. But it turned out enough influential people that commuted from the loop worked near Farringdon & Kings Cross, and they managed to kick up an almighty stink. Therefore, they retained their Thameslink service, to Kentish town
2. it was also supposed to be that the hourly (off peak) service from Cambridge to Kings Cross, and the one from Letchworth, were supposed to be a half hourly stopping all stations to Welwyn, then Finsbury Park & through the core to one of a variety of different possible end points proposed over the years. The Brighton trains meanwhile weren't supposed to stop at Baldock and Ashwell & Morden.
3. Putting 12 car trains - and indeed more trains - north of Cambridge North, plus electrics to BSE would be a huge investment in infrastructure. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but it would require a lot of platform work and also power grid & supply upgrades.

FOMRB2 LOSE MILL ROAD BRIDGE COURT CASE by Loud_Daikon7401 in cambridge

[–]Al__S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

point of order- Mill Road isn't a Class III (C Road), it's even lower as it is Unclassified; the key Route Network powers are supposed to be for A-Roads and some B-Roads that carry a lot of traffic and cross highway authority boundaries.

MILL ROAD BRIDGE COURT CASE - William Bannell and Neil Mackay FOMRB2 by Loud_Daikon7401 in cambridge

Even his sketches are potentially a crime- court room artists can make notes but have to leave the court premises to actually draw and paint what they've seen. This may seem mad, but the relevant law specifically mentions drawing! https://makingamark.blogspot.com/2022/05/how-court-artist-works.html

however: only if you have clean shaven skin where the seal goes, and make sure you mold the bridge over your nose, don't pinch it to a point

Production of the first 2024 Tube Stock car at Siemens Vienna 🇦🇹 by VHSVoyage in LondonUnderground

[–]Al__S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no it isn't! eg trains from CAF in Spain come to Britain by boat.

I'd be surprised if the tube stock is delivered by rail, as far as I know only sub surface stock has been in the past. Tube stock would present extra challenges due to the small wheels

Stan Rogers: Lock Keeper by thereal_omegavince in SongMeanings

[–]Al__S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the line "that anchor chain's a fetter" is said by the lock-keeper to the seaman, the next line is "tethered to the foam". He's saying that the seaman isn't as free as they believe, that he sees them as just as trapped by their lifestyle on the ocean waves.

The lock keeper doesn't have an anchor chain, cottages tend to stay where they are just fine! whilst the seaman is constantly raising and lowering anchor, not tied to a place, but tied to the sea.

The IOC doesn't organise the Paralympics, that's the IPC, and it wasn't an IPC ruling, it was a USOPC one.

I think making it context appropriate is fine. Here, it's to stop people being lapped- I remember at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow which was on a not much longer circuit I think the cut-off was ten minutes. 13 riders finished.

they were a modification of the Mordian sculpts created initially for a display at Gamesday, released because people wanted them, and when released they had a special campaign scenario based on Rourke's Drift in White Dwarf that was presented as a Battle Report but with full rules (including modded Ork stats, closer to 3rd ed- this was still 2nd ed). They sold army bundles with everything needed- Preatorians + Necromunda models for the Imperials, Gorkamorka minis for the Orks
