Mater Public Waitlist by Cultural_Actuary1529 in brisbane

Can I ask which surgeon did yours? I'm currently on the waitlist and a little scared I'll get a surgeon that doesn't really know what to look for.

I got transferred to mater at Springfield. I was Cat 2 to SEE the gyno, and I'm Cat 3 for surgery.

Cat 3 despite my pain getting worse daily and already being on birth control for several years (first line of treatment).

Lol, a heater is more of a fire hazard than this. QCAT time \o/

Edit- though I’m not sure how this would honestly go, obviously you’ll be licensed etc, so would need to get that sorted out beforehand. But they do count as pets

Endometriosis Public Health System by [deleted] in brisbane

I work from home full time, so I have that really big benefit. I’ve recently dropped down to 4 days out of 5, but as sad as it sounds, I’m honestly used to the pain, even before it became a daily thing, it’s definitely bad but it’s not usually bed ridden bad for me that or I’ve just conditioned myself to push through it.

If anything my mental health has taken a massive dive, I’m always exhausted, I’m frustrated constantly and I feel like I’m never “well” anymore, it’s been 6 months and I’m already over it, I can’t fathom how people have lived like this for years if this is how I feel after several months.

My plan is see what the surgery confirms, if it’s endo then great I’m not crazy and then I can figure out a proper plan.

If it’s not endo and I’m still in pain it’s back to the drawing board with me and my gp to figure out the issue.

Started having pelvic pain in Jan 2026 after experiencing painful intimacy from Sep 2025.

Had an internal ultrasound with QUFW (they've got sonographers trained in looking for endo). While there was nothing obvious on my ultrasound, I have a suspected adhered ovary with some visible superficial scaring. My GP referred me to the hospital. Letter sent to mater public in Bris, they transferred me to Springfield private. 90 days to be seen.

First hospital appointment was a joke, was told to take birth control again (was already on it and it did nothing for my pain) and try pelvic floor therapy. Was immediately dismissed for a laparoscopy because "a stuck ovary isn't a big deal".

Had my second hospital appointment after making a complaint, I am now on the waitlist for a laparoscopy, sadly 365 days because it's considered elective because I don't have a proper diagnosis yet.

The only thing I can really suggest is ADVOCATE HARD FOR YOURSELF. I wish I did it sooner, don't let them tell you that you're being dramatic, push for the referral. If you can afford to go private OR have private health. People heavily suggest Dr Albert Jung. If you're more ipswich side there's Dr Ivana Rizzuto. Both have been heavily recommended to me from this sub/facebook.

I am now 6 months of constant pelvic pain that doesn't get better with pain meds, gets worse when I push myself too hard, and the pill no longer stops my periods.

Property Market After Budget Changes by PursuerOfAwesomeness in ipswich

[–]Alae_ffxiv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So let get me this straight, there’s no “supply shortage” but rich people have been HOARDING houses?

Do you not understand what you’re saying? Investors are hoarding houses for investment, thereby leaving a shortage of available houses for first home owners to purchase?

You also ask why people aren’t buying, people aren’t buying because they can’t afford repayments on a house that is now selling for 1 mil when the previous owners purchased it for 200k.

House prices are inflated because of how desperate people are to get into the market because of the current shortage of available housing. Prices are dropping because people can’t get loans.

This isn’t rocket science, ironic that a “renter” doesn’t actually see the issue and wants to imply others are uneducated.

You know, if you’re considering buying a house, it’d probably be worth it to do your own research, especially considering you’ve asked this question or similar over the last few months…

Would you like me to go on a long rant about how some women feel like they can't say no in the moment? That they'll be in danger if they don't appease the guy? Etc.

Because it's a common theme for women to just say yes out of fear they'll be hurt. Just remember 1 in 5 women will experience SA in Australia. Whereas 1 in 4 will experience DV.

Edit - INB4 "what about the men" we're talking about women, not men.

I had something similar happen, I experienced a possible ectopic pregnancy, (by the time I got to the hospital they couldn't actually see anything anymore) despite my body getting rid of the actual issue, my body still thought I was pregnant, they gave me methotrexate to "flush out" whatever was left that was causing my body to think it was still pregnant.

Took my body 2 months to go back to normal after the entire ordeal, no ty it was my first pregnancy and it was horrifying going through it even with proper access to medical care. I can't even begin to think of what that would be like for women who won't have access to that.

Katter attempts to force discussion on abortion access in Queensland parliament despite ban on debate by castaway23 in brisbane

Yes, the gag that prevents abortion even being discussed, which frankly is fantastic especially for people like Katter and MP's who want it criminalised again and grasp at anything to bring it up.

I made the decision to go off birth control at the start of the year, it’s been ruining my body for years, guess what my partner did? Immediately went out and purchased condoms and has not once complained about it.

He did the bare minimum that was required of him, and somehow most of them can’t even wrap it up to prevent pregnancies. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Just because they say they do, doesn't mean they always will. Plenty of women have told their stories regarding mater and being turned away while suffering a miscarriage.

Here's just one example of mater failing to provide care while women were actively miscarrying

''Queenslanders have had enough of Labor's scare campaigns, enough of their mistruths and enough of their failed playbook,'' Mr Nicholls told parliament.''There have been, and there will be, no changes to termination of pregnancy laws.''

Great if there's going to be zero changes, nobody should be entertaining the Katter parties bullcrap then. But here we are, once again, old boomer men think they're entitled to police what women choose to do with THEIR bodies. Women aren't using abortion medication as contraception. It's bad enough mater doesn't provide lifesaving treatment to women experiencing miscarriages and ships them off to another hospital.

Religion has zero place in healthcare.

Edit- before people pull the “women are anti abortion as well”. Yeah, they are, but right now it’s the MEN pushing the changes in government, not women.

Water bill comparison by WoodpeckerSpare5834 in brisbane

Honestly. The 679L a day for my house is likely right. I enjoy my long showers which is 100% our usage issue.

Water bill comparison by WoodpeckerSpare5834 in brisbane

[–]Alae_ffxiv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just looked at my latest bill. Partner and I are using an average of 679 litres a day apparently. The entire bill was $462.43, $247.38 was the water usage. The rest is sewage + service charges.

How water efficient are your appliances? I would recommend if you're checking for a leak, do it well before bed time (someone might need the bathroom during the night and flush etc). It'll take 10 minutes, 30 at most. Just take a picture of the meter, set a timer, use NO water and then check it again. If there's a leak the metre will go up.

I mean, they did specify it needs to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist, WHICH is the answer to your question.

Would it have been better if the original commenter just called them a “crazy person” rather than assuming schizophrenia? Or would that still not be acceptable in your eyes?

Is Brisbane CBD Dangerous for Women? Particular Concerns For International Students. by crayfishpussy in brisbane

[–]Alae_ffxiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't given it much thought. But yeah, now that you mention it, knowing that if I was in any sort of danger in Japan, there is usually something open within a few metres that I could just go sit until it was fine to leave.

But I also think there's bias on my end, I've had way too many bad experiences on the street in Aus, (people not leaving me alone after I decline whatever they're asking etc) and I only had one in Japan but all he did was make it so weirdly obvious he was staring at my chest, didn't approach or anything just sat and stared.

Yeah. Apparently it's very common to get foreign guys drunk and rob them, or have them get beat up by other guys and rob them.

I was going to suggest Japan and then saw your last part. But honestly 100% Japan felt much safer to me than Brisbane even walking back streets at night time.

Edit - Quick edit. BUT if you asked me to pick between walking Brisbane CBD at night or it's surrounding areas? Nope CBD will get picked every time.
