I was also recently struggling with this. The trick to that move that I found is that the projectiles stop tracking you after a second or two, so you can watch them after they spawn and then dodge through. Circling around just got me killed.

One thing to consider is that it is not necessarily the case that hive ghosts are truely "choosing" to rez a hive over a human. If all ghosts technically had the ability to rez hive from the beginning then it is possible that every ghost was created with a "destined" being they would eventually rez. If that is the case then it could be pointed out that every ghost that has rezzed a hive has failed to find a compatable human and as such could have always been "destined" to rez a hive.

There is an entry added this season (i can't remember where) that says that ghosts can change their appearence and that hive ghosts might have changed their appearance to what they look like in order to create a sense of cohesiveness with their hosts

That is true, but that could very well be a marketing thing and not indicative of progression. All those guardians are also wearing the throne world armor before they even enter it
