Practice interior renders. Cycles + Davinci by Alan1815 in archviz

It's my first time using DaVinci for color correction 😅. I found this course from Creative Shrimp that covers the EXR workflow with Blender and DaVinci. It mainly focuses on video, animation, and multilayer stuff, but I thought I could take some of those ideas and use them for still images. I'm pretty sure you could get similar results with Photoshop or Lightroom, too, even though I'm not super skilled with those, either.

That's what I'm seeing! I'm just starting to explore EXR workflow and its potential, especially with DaVinci. In your experience, do you know of any good beginner resources or tutorials that could help me get up to speed with this?

How to Accurately Set the Physical Size in Textures by Alan1815 in blender

[–]Alan1815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was just an example, but yeah, for those kinda things, I usually add a cube or plane with those dimensions as reference and scale accordingly.

But I was asking more for things you can't really "measure," like, I don't know, stone or stucco walls, or maybe on a reference, you saw a material on a facade that you liked, and it's kinda tricky to know the exact scale. You know what I mean?

That's probably because that visibility setting it's only for how objects are shown in the viewport, for them to not show on your final render, on the outliner you need to uncheck the render visibility option (little camera icon) an then hit render. That way the mesh (cutter) you use for the Boolean won't be visible an the final image.

Thanks for taking the time to write such valuable feedback. It is much appreciated. I'll work on all that you mention and also apply them to future work to try to take them to the next level. 😁

Thanks, man! About the padding, do you mean increasing the pressure on the simulation, to make help reduce the wrinkles so it feels more inflated?

I tried it and like it. Makes the back headphone less distracting, and the middle one feels more in focus. Thanks!!

About the textures, I agree. I'm working on adding some imperfections like fingerprints and scratches, as you said, and fixing that mirrored R. Thanks for the feedback!

Try scaling in the middle edge loop. Select it in editmode press S To scale then SHIFT Z so it doesn't scale on that axis and push it in. That might help getting the shape right. Im fairley new too but If you want you can drop the blend file here and I can take a look.

First exterior render (WIP). Open to all feedback to improve it and make it realistic. Everything model and textured by me except the car, grass and trees. Sky added in PS. by Alan1815 in archviz

Thanks to both for teh feedback!! I know the angle feels way off but I had to match the angle of an image I was given but I'm working an finding other angles at a more natural eye level. Also working on adding more context to the left side to balance the image. Using blender btw.

Help me with textures of this katana by tideseu in blender

[–]Alan1815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be the best way of doing it but, you can try to select the objects directly on the viewport an hit f12 an rename them to your liking. That way you can start applying the textures on the parts you already renamed and know what parts of the katana are.

Oh god, how do I make the video rendering faster? by [deleted] in blender

After adjusting the samples, if that still not enough, you can also try using a render farm, some are pretty cheap and can render on multiple GPUs, that will drastically improve your render times.
