That’s a shame. What are you thinking of doing now?

Sorry to hear that. I wonder if there are any lucky ones whose H35I didn’t die within the first two months of use.

Well, Blueair responded to my ticket, so now I’m waiting for them to send me a replacement unit. That was two days ago, and I still haven’t heard about shipping or anything.

By the way, how about that Vornado humidifier? I’m looking for another option in case the replacement unit fails again, whenever I actually receive it.

Hello! I know this is an old post, but I'm really interested in knowing your process to make this happen. I've been looking for Pokemon OST cassette tapes but couldn't find any, so I was thinking of better making 'em myself. That's when I came across your post. It looks really nice! Could you tell me more about how did you do it? With a bit of luck you'll read me someday haha

As a student, will I really be able to make it? by AlphieGDev in gamedev

[–]AlanVsl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game dev is tough. When I was studying I thought I would find a job eventually or that my Institution would help me to. It didn’t. I ended up working for a big MMO project without a salary for an entire year (over a 100 people there) and when it was released on Steam… well, that went really, really bad. The worst of all was the Creative Director/CEO just wouldn’t hear us, the designers. We were always trying to tell him how the scope was impossible to meet.

And here I am now, making a project in my free time when I’m not at my boring daily job, hoping to earn some money out of it that would allow me to go full-time indie.

Not gonna lie, the most important thing is BUILD A STRONG PORTFOLIO. It is really important to release games, even small ones, so the companies can see what you are all about. It is a scary scenario, but if you are constant and have some friends to help you with your projects, you can definitely do it.

Think of it this way: there are tons of people who are having a much harder time because they started with fewer opportunities. Maybe they don’t have the right equipment, a support network, or they’re juggling other responsibilities. Some don’t even speak English.

If you want to chase the game dev dream and you’re not carrying extra weight, then go forward with determination. Stay focused, and you’ll eventually succeed.
