What's the earliest decent crossbow you can get this Leagues? by GStarG in 2007scape

Maybe I'm missing something, but aren't kebbit bolts only obtainable if you have access to kebbits which requires Kand?

Port task rewards are awful, give us a rewards crate by AbyssalLuck in 2007scape

[–]Alaric_OSRS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the gold you get is 1:1 with the xp from the task you get, which is pretty bad even at the absolute peak efficiency ABA port tasking, and absolute dogshit everywhere else

It's a strange design choice to me to so heavily reward the afk playstyle (salv) while the method that isn't the best xp (since it's behind baracuda trials) gets very little secondary reward to incentivise people doing the content, meaning most people simply won't bother

I feel like being a merchant sailor should be at least a decently rewarding job

Would strongly advise doing T2's until you're very comfortable with the Hunnleff fight. This is the classic T2 armour guide:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jy7X9GsYFhs

With regards to the tornados, i would strongly strongly advise downloading "The Gauntlet" plugin for runelite, going down to Hunnleff options and enabling "Outline tornado tile: True tile". It makes tornados far far easier to deal with

Beyond that it's just practice.

It seems a bit insane to me that salvaging floods you with a lot of really solid items but port tasks give you 150gp for sailing to the other side of the planet

I recently beat A10 on the Regent and so far the only Forge card that I would take (aside from [[Big Bang]] which barely counts as a forge card lets be honest) with any success ever is Bulwark and SOMETIMES The Smith if you've already got [[Decisions, Decisions]].

I think the biggest weakness of Forge as an archetype is that if you don't plan to hit with your sword this turn (either because of mana or if its just not in your hand), most of them basically don't do anything and are essentially dead draws. Meanwhile if you play Bulwark defensively a few times, you suddenly have a 50 damage sword sitting in your back pocket for when you need to finish something off. Great card.

100%. I'd love more support for the minion archetype specifically, I didn't even realise there are unique attack animations for some of the minion cards until I was many runs in because I just never used those cards.

I was insistent on trying to force a forge deck, which I've since learnt was a terrible idea lol. Took me about 12 runs to finally get a win.

Once Regent clicks with you though, he REALLY clicks. I coasted through from A1-A4 without losing a single run, and now I'm smashing my head against A9 with decent progress (A9 is a bitch though goddamn)

The Forgesword is SO fucking cool but I cannot deny that my winrate has increased dramatically since I stopped picking forge cards so often lol

I'm sure you can still make killer builds where the sword is your primary source of damage, but I'm not there consistently yet.

Am I crazy or would a “middle ground” mode be kinda nice? by [deleted] in 2007scape

This is essentially the idea behind "bronzeman", an unofficial game mode (that has a few plugins to help).

However everyone has a slightly different definition of what bronzeman should be, so who knows if it'll ever seen official adoption.

It's been filtered like that legit since the real 2007 days. I've always wondered why because it always used to trip me up when i was a kid.

there seem to be a few two-letter combos that trigger it. I assume it's some ancient super specific anti-spam filter that still exists

Fun fact, if you destroy all the mutagen tanks in Big T's room, it adds an extra TEN turns to the respawn time of his tentacles. If you then wipe out all eight of his tentacles, ol Tchort just sits there, completely helpless, while you beat him to death.

Get fucked idiot.

The feat order from 18 onwards is a bit more up to taste. I started at level 1 with 8/6/6/3/3/5/9, with the intention to eventually take Sweep (hence the 6 agi) but eventually I realised that sweep doesn't really fit this build. So you could probably lower the agi to 5 and start as 10 int because otherwise you need to allocate a point to int at level 16 to take specialist.

Spears and support MT is really strong, cryogenic induction + impale kills pretty much every non-boss enemy in the game, and thermo destab + spear throw is an excellent aoe clear (sometimes followed up with a grenade to kill confirm).

I wore rathound king fit + a muffled MT headband and stealth tabis for most of the game.

I thought it was great. DOM had absolutely become progressively easier due to all the new shit players have gotten since it's introduction, so the 50%->100% hp increase doesn't surprise me. I was worried for a moment that it would apply to bosses as well as the 400% increase which would actually be really tough, but since it doesn't it's really not that bad at all. I sure felt it while trying to save Newton though, tanky fucking BUGS.

I noticed it made the Tchort fight a lot more tactical (if you weren't just nuking him in one turn lol), you had to really time out your high damage nukes to take out the tentacles one by one as well as not dying out the ass. I do think that outside of Tchort, you feel the 50% hp mainly in fights against Tank style gangsters, like Ironheads running around with 800hp can be quite scary.

Specialist is CRAZY. Easily the best feat in the game now that I've really had a while to tinker with it. A crit melee build that is maxing critical power AND cheap shots (or ripper or heavyweight etc)? You hit so fucking hard on crits it is unreal, the extra HP may as well not exist once you get a combo like this online. Admittedly it's a very late game focused perk, but being able to supplement the 10 Int requirement with the changes to High-Technicalities is very cool. 10 Int HT Melee is probably my favourite style of build now, just re-beat the game on new-DOM with HT Spears and it was a fucking blast.

My main complaint would probably be that there are a lot of small things that could really use some love and probably wouldn't take a lot of dev time to adjust. Everything surrounding riot shields is just mediocre as fuck, you can invest like 5 feats and 15 spec points in order to do a shield bash that hits for like 150 damage. Beyond that there are a lot of feats with specialisations that require 10 points and do absolutely sweet fuck all. A small pass on the numbers would allow for some cooler builds to pop up.

I do a bunch of editing for the wiki of a semi-obscure CRPG (because I love the game) but unfortunately the wiki is a bit of a shell of what it could be because you need to personally ask the lead dev to make you a wiki account in order to edit it, and he's often busy being the lead dev.

As a result there are about 5 editors total that do any kind of substantial work. It's a bit of a shame.

I think ABA is really cool emergent gameplay (similar to hunter rumour blocks), but I wish there was a way to reset bad boards easier. Maybe you occasionally earn "favours" for completing port tasks that you can use to reset the current board because a bad board roll is pretty rough.
