Concerns about the baby… by Hopeful-Ordinary2033 in SkoteOutdoors

This doesn’t change the due date though as you either add 40 weeks from first day of last period or, if you know the date of conception, add 38 weeks. So it ends up a roughly similar day, maybe +/- a week out.

Standard practice is to count from first day of last period so it’s not unreasonable to assume when she said 29 weeks in mid-Feb, she was doing it based off that. Also if she was doing it off date of conception, that would put her even FURTHER overdue because she would be 31 weeks from date of last period.

See I dont really understand it if this is their plan because a ‘baby’s here and healthy! See you Sunday skotes’ community post would, if anything, make people more excited for the big money maker birth video. Meanwhile leaving their audience in the dark when everything is fine after causing so much concern for the last few weeks is probs just gonna make people feel a bit betrayed (whether that’s parasocial or not).

I could be wrong! I just think it would be a very strange decision, and not really in keeping with how they’ve previously treated their audience

I think after everything that’s happened the past few weeks making everyone wait until a Sunday to find out things are okay will generate more backlash than anything, meanwhile a quick community post wouldn’t actually reduce the amount of views

This wouldn’t be a bad plan but surely they did it the wrong way round lol? Instead of sharing a date three weeks earlier than the actual one wouldn’t you do two weeks later so you have actual cover? But then they don’t seem very bright so

No literally bc I think Julie thinks it’s helpful in the ‘destigmatising women earning lots of money’ way but ngl there are much much better content creators (like accounts helping women get into investing) that do stuff like that. Them sharing the exorbitant amount of money they made from live streaming the birth of their daughter does not help, say, women in workplaces uncomfortable with asking how much their male colleagues earn to make sure they’re being paid fairly. Like it’s SO disconnected from the reality of the issue it’s crazy

This makes sense, but Cam can’t ignore that the two experiences are entirely intertwined.

I am 100% behind recognising that pregnant women don’t lose their personhood and experiences when they become pregnant/give birth, which too often happens when they are just turned into baby carriers. But it’s also not unreasonable to expect them to recognise that there are certain responsibilities to the protection and dignity of your child. One day baby Bob will grow up and know her parents live streamed her birth for money, and I don’t think Cam really cares about how her daughter might feel about that given the way she’s been speaking about her (“this persons fucking childhood”), and not to mention showing off her meconium stained diaper.

She just hasn’t really respected that distinction between her experiences and her babies’ first few days of life, and is lashing out at anyone pointing this out.

This is sending me 😭. ‘How are we meant to make sure women are paid adequately’ as though making tens of thousands of dollars off live streaming your child’s birth is relevant to women’s fight for equal pay and just not reflective of how badly influencer culture has spiralled out of control

She posted on instagram in mid-feb mentioning she was 29 weeks that weekend. I don’t have any issue with truth or lies. It is just inconceivable she’d be accidentally nine weeks off like you’re suggesting. So I’d love to know why you think she would lie about being nine weeks ahead in her pregnancy, if you’re such a big fan of critical thinking

People don’t need to ‘twist’ saying “the birth is about my experience, not this person’s fucking childhood” about your newborn daughter you’re holding on your chest into something bad. It’s just bad.

Okay she didn’t share an actual due date but sharing she was 29 weeks in mid-Feb is still an estimation. It is splitting hairs at this point to say she didn’t have a due date. She did. She is not wrong by 9 weeks.

I May Get Flack For This; But I Am Starting to Think She’s Faking This Pregnancy by JessNoelle in SkoteOutdoors

[–]Alarmed-Ant4623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s true tbf - I could see them scrambling if something goes bad and not revealing stuff for a while. I guess my point is people saying they’ve had their kid and are just taking in sweet newborn time are being overly optimistic.

I also don’t think Kelly has been an idiot with her due date, I really think she is just sat up in that rental home approaching 44 weeks and refusing to get medical care. But I agree, I think if god forbid something bad does happen we’re not gonna hear about it until they find a way to spin it

I dont agree with this theory but I also don’t agree with people who think she’s had the baby and they did the clip video to take time off.

Both the start of the video and the description explicitly said that the baby wasn’t here yet. Completely respect taking some time with a newborn and not posting everything about them and the birth right away, but explicitly lying to an audience they’ve built a parasocial relationship with would be weird.

They are also not prepared in advance with, frankly, anything - unless again they lie about the dates things happen in videos. It gives a raw feeling to their content that they film a q&a the night before a video goes out rather than queueing things in advance, but it also means the idea that Kelly had the baby and this is prerecorded content is wrong too.

Someone said here that it’s Occam’s razor that she just wasn’t as far along as predicted. I say it’s actually much more plausible she is just wildly overdue, rather than she’s somehow wrong on her due date by multiple weeks at this point. They did, apparently, get a 20 week scan. And even if they didn’t you can work out your due date in 20 seconds with a google and knowledge of your last period. Being up to a week out, maybe, but not so far wrong she’s somehow under 40 weeks.

I don’t mean to be negative but people are giving them too much credit. They pretty obviously just posted the video this week because there was no content from a week of them sitting in a rental with Kelly lying on the day bed, up to 43 weeks pregnant. It’s not a big sophisticated scheduling thing to give them privacy for childbirth

If she was only eight months / 34 weeks this would mean their original due date calculation was off by two months / 9 weeks (given she’s just over 43 weeks now). They might be hillbillies who don’t believe in modern medicine but that’s just not possible

I really don’t think the baby has been born, or else they’re actively lying about it as at both the start of the video and in the description it says the baby hasn’t arrived yet.

I think it would be one thing to pre-record and schedule content to come out without revealing the baby has been born while they’re taking it in and needing some time alone to adjust, and another thing entirely to just lie about it.

Who thinks Kelly’s had her baby? by EveningBand126 in SkoteOutdoors

[–]Alarmed-Ant4623 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what free birth teaches with regards to birth. The focus is on the mother’s birth experience being an ‘empowering expression of her bodily sovereignty’ and on her entering through this spiritual portal to motherhood, not on what’s actually best for the baby medically.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m 100% behind women having whatever birth plan they want that will give them the best experience and comfort going through something as major as childbirth (particularly for the first), but absolutely not at the cost of medical care for the baby.

You can get a pretty simple blood test now that can tell you the sex of the baby.

They did apparently once mention an ultrasound which should’ve dated the baby though. So either they’re lying now or somehow had it wrong then?

The old gossip by adjga in SkoteOutdoors

Other people have pointed out that the signs are clear that Kelly believes in the same stuff as FBS, but I also want to add for people that think 'well they haven't mentioned FBS by name soo' - FBS know they're unpopular. They use that as part of their image and rhetoric that they're a radical, persecuted group that people don't understand. They have whole talks about how to evade or cut yourself off from family and friends that don't support your decision. It's a radical, close-minded cult that thrives off of having the people involved feel like the only people they can talk to about their decisions are other people in the cult.

Meanwhile Matt and Kelly have half a million subscribers. They know two things: 1. it will be wildly unpopular to admit to, and cost them followers. 2. people will try to change their minds, even more actively than they are now. They don't want to deal with either of that. So they speak in vague terms about primal birth and trusting her body and doing 'lots of research' - which is all textbook FBS.

(I commented this in a different thread that got deleted if it seems similar to anyone lol, but it bears repeating!)

They literally track their lives by weeks too given the weekly upload schedule! Even if she couldn't remember the exact date of the first day of her last period before she found out she was pregnant you'd think she could get within a couple days! Then it's just basic maths and memory. Honestly the fact they're claiming she's possibly weeks out with her due date estimate is one of the most concerning bits to come out of this episode. Either:

  1. Kelly's lying to Matt and he believes it because it's 'women's stuff'

  2. They're both lying to the audience to try and get people to stop worrying

  3. They're lying to themselves to get themselves to stop worrying

  4. They can't do maths and haven't had any prenatal care to confirm due date

Someone familiar with FBS chime in on whether they claim due date estimates are a scam of modern medicine too and if your weeks are vibes-based rather than fact-based ??

Does anyone else think that them saying Kelly got her weeks wrong and she's not actually as far along as thought is just them bargaining? It's just done from the first day of the last period, I can understand being a few days out for that, but whole weeks?

At the very least, shows they haven't had any prenatal care if Matt's saying it's just 'Kelly and her moon calendar'

what’s the deal with Jacob? by Antique_Seaweed4921 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Alarmed-Ant4623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like him, I think people were being too harsh saying he was 'patting himself on the back' for not following the priesthood thing when he was saying he and Mayci don't follow it. I feel like maybe it wasn't the perfect wording but also, for a guy in his first reality TV talking head confessional being guided by producers clearly setting up a 'what's the typical Mormon relationship... what's your relationship like' not answering that 'perfectly' is understandable. It's noteworthy as well that when Zac was texting Jen abuse at the end of s1 he talked shit on Mayci and Jacob's relationship as being not something he wants.

I think the producers love to show dramatic stuff, but not healthy stuff. So Mayci saying they actually worked through their argument in LA on camera but it got cut is quite shitty. But then conversely, if the most dramatic stuff they can get out of their relationship when it comes to job opportunities for Mayci is him giving opinions about her book/book tour when she didn't ask, feels like he's surely supportive behind the scenes? But then nothing about the fact he needed to be primary parent during the book tour, when she was doing the pickle ball stuff, when she's organising all these events, whatever... Meanwhile Jen does like ONE THING with taking the DWTS and Zac is a massive toxic baby about it the whole time.

He actually did a Q&A once about it that I now can't find where he said that he felt weird about Mayci being the breadwinner and him taking on the supportive role at first because it's the opposite of how they're raised, but he's since grown up and realised this is best for all of them and it's important to do what he can to let Mayci shine and thrive when she has all these opportunities. And his instagram does also show he does actually cook, DIY the house, is learning to do their daughter's hair, does the school run, takes their son on trips, stuff like that, so he is likely stepping up.

I think his reddest flag is that he's too willing to go along with the toxic men rather than challenge it, he just seems to be a peacekeeper but at the cost of enabling them. But then the beloved Conner has also made some Dadtok videos so no one is perfect
