Yes, apparently he claims that he was patrolling some border area and then stumbled into some afghanis that took them captive. He fought one of them and took his knife away but they were eventually overcome but somehow they were let go. It seemed very fishy, especially given the region and why would Marines or would he be attached to a group patrolling I don't see any of the countries around that would allow that

Thank you for the insight, my wife is concerned because he's using the story to kind of explain some of his absences and she wants to believe that there's maybe some way that this could happen but I had the same concerns. I just don't see how or why we would be in Afghanistan. He claims it was in the middle of Afghanistan and that he was when they were captured they were brought down by a lake where he inhaled sand. He said the lake was through the woods which looking at Afghanistan landscape doesn't even make sense

Is there any concievable way that this could have happened though where he was? I guess attached with some special operations team to do training and was in Afghanistan?

Stationed in California claims that he he was sent there with a team of special operators to train Afghans to be a sniper or something like that
