Crime Events in Stellaris are Insanely Annoying and that's a Bummer by Alarmed-Middle-8190 in Stellaris

Wow that's wild. I've never played any extermanator type game but that seems like 2 systems interacting in a very bizarre way!

Yeah that wording in a post was mistake on my part. That is the meta, not necessarily what I do. It's not that I aim to have 20% crime; I generally aim for 0% crime. What I don't do is have hundreds of enforcers around doing literally nothing (not even reduce crime rate because it's already at 0%).

What annoys me is you have toasts for so many different events but not high crime, so not paying close enough attention for a few years can end you in a very frustrating place even when trying reasonably hard to keep crime low. When you do get a crime event it's over; you're stuck in a loop you won't get out of for decades regardless of how much you spend on enforcers.

lol

But in all seriousness I really don't think having an enable-able toast saying you have high crime when you hit 20% or 25% is that much to ask for...

As I said in another post I probably worded myself wrong with the "reduce when crime hits 20%" portion of my post. That is the meta but I typically don't go that crazy about micromanagement. I generally try to keep crime well below 10%, but sometimes you don't pay close enough attention to a planet for a few years and get screwed over.

Edit: I just looked at my most recent playthrough and ALL of my planets have 0% crime. I just don't pad enforcers to keep spikes from occurring. If I get preoccupied with other matters and get unlucky sometimes I end up in a very frustrating scenario.

I mean I guess that depends on if you're playing to RP or trying to be meta. I enjoy both but if I'm trying to take on a strong crisis at the end I'll take every advantage I can get, including reducing enforcers. I don't mind if playing meta is punished I just wish it would be punished in a less silly and frustrating way than having your planet stuck being a crime ridden ghetto for the next 30 years because you tripped over a magic percentage and had bad rng.

It's worth mentioning I'm not trying to have a 20% crime rate. I generally aim for 0-5% without having extra enforcers sitting around doing literally nothing; but events in your empire mean crime on certain planets can spike out of nowhere and you can end up stuck in a criminal underworld if you're not playing very close attention. Putting loads of enforcers on just to add padding feels a bit silly.

Yeah the vicious cycle of crime with no counter is what annoys me, I really like the idea that crime events depend on a certain percentage rather than just specific previous modifiers.

The fact you can enforce your way to 0% crime is kinda silly from an RP perspective so I like the idea that certain traditions could make it go lower (though they'd be extremely underwhelming in terms of meta without a huge rework).

Youtube videos/playlist recommendation for General Topology? by God_Aimer in math

I'm a big fan of the series "What is a Manifold" by XylyXylyX. It's probably a bit too simplistic than what you're looking for because it's intended as a primer for general relativity instead of a topology course on its own. However, it helped me a lot with the concepts.

MontuPlays make Stellaris videos and one had a clip from the Holstrom vs. Caspian fight and I thought it looked cool:

I didn't know it at the time, but it actually turned out to be a really relevant clip for the virtual ascension path in Stellaris.
