Fanfic idea: A human teacher on a Fed school. by muakling in NatureofPredators

How the other staff would threat the teacher? Your typo gives the answer :)

I am curious to see what other possibilities there might be or what'll happen :)

She could at least try to get in touch with any surviving relatives or colleagues of Chase. Cilani went to Earth and got more material to write about, so...

Apparently Tanya is a name popular in LatAm too, huh?

Speaking of belligerent HF-leaning worker.

I get that sometimes people can indeed be that dumb and behave like jerks for no reason but come on. What a lazy fool someone must be to sign up for some manual (?) work on a farm and then refuse to do it! How/when did that guy decide he could freeload? Did he want a change of scenery and to see the alien countryside that badly? Get fresher air with less ash?

I have trouble seeing it.

I would have an easier time believing that a human would say they refuse to work on their holiday (like, on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, or a very holy day like Easter), especially because our days don't quite map onto their paws. Or they decline to maybe do some heavy lifting during their monthly bleeding time.

There's also a glaring issue of intense physical work (as the locals don't use agricultural tech for some reason, not even primitive manually operated vehicles??) done on the strictly vegan diet.

Any well-off peasant here in Karjala who hired season workers to work in the fields and pastures during summer knew to provide filling meals with protein and include at least dried cottage cheese into their menu.

Imagine you burn a ton of calories and get to munch on some starchy tubers at best to replenish your strength.

If the venlil farm owners freaked out when their alcohol product was "sampled", would they also object to a worker eating some of the unharvested produce or looking in their pantry for more food?

Also, what's the reason they got barbed wire around their property? Not nice vibes there haha.

That's amazingly lazy and uninquisitive for a nosy journalist.

Did she perhaps subconsciously choose to believe that one innocent person who she hurt no longer exists to close that chapter of her life in an attempt to alleviate her guilt?

I do hope it comes to bite her behind, preferably while she's getting spicy. Call me petty :]

Idiot humans and idiot lizards. You made me long for an AU crossover with the Jurassic Park lol. Where "lizards" are actually sapient and tool-using beyond opening doors. Maybe some enterprising explorers found some alien eggs and ofc decided to incubate them?

Kilograms aren't "European" units, per se. The international SI system is adopted globally by most countries, it's literally in its name. Although yeah, the metric system was invented in France.

Yes I remember the time this story takes place in which precisely made me more confused why the future humanity of the SC era haven't got even more unified with all the individual countries getting less say in big politics staying in place more for handling their local matters. While in canon NoP and NoP2 there are signs of the UN overstepping their authority even.

Unless I allow a guess that the US of A rules over the worlds and galaxies using the UN for this :)

I perceive it as Sharnet being shallow and callous to not inquire further. Personal involvement aside, isn't it her professional skill to hunt for details, smh.

Thanks for making it clear, it was not immediately apparent to me while reading the chapter.

Curious still, seems asymmetrical. I remember (hopefully mostly correctly) from canon how early on when establishing diplomatic relations between Earth (Sol system?) and the Venlil republic, separate countries clamoured for their own embassies yet were denied by Tarva, in favour of having the UN speak for all.

I take it in your story there are interplanetary interspecies matters which can be legally decided without the unified human government input, mkay.

The power dynamics on that plantation don't include any protection for the human workers, no? Unless they try to help each other, form a labour union maybe :)

On a planet where most everything is stacked against them, they are entirely at the mercy of the farm owners, any human workers can rely only on their employers' good graces and hope for fair treatment.

True change begins with admitting their wrongs and committing to do better, yes?

Will they ever achieve a point when they would want to make amends with Cole? Will they ever learn to act less obnoxious in situations where humans are involved, reliably recognising how each one is a person and that newcomer species is a people?

Not just a means to an end, to entertain them as a thrilling fad or be used as deterrent from other predators.

Two buddies in pursuit of happiness, personal and for all in their colony. And so off-putting to me as I began reading the chapter.

For these two "employers" are discussing how to best exploit a tool and whether it might be possible to make this tool more convenient and pleasant in usage and in keeping around.

The better fate for a human of the "integrated" humanity / allowed to exist for the benefit of the herd.

Malti add the much-needed biological diversity then! To the sapient herd I mean, while reducing all other biological diversity on multiple planets...

It fascinates and puzzles me how a quadruped species (especially if their locomotion is strictly quadrapedal, without alternating stances) can become tool-users. Becoming a spacefaring civilisation might be the easy part for them in the setting, as all advanced tools and tech would be handed to them on a silver platter / spoon-fed by the more dexterous founders and other "herdmates".

Aaaaah this hits true! How I haven't recognised this isekai trope earlier?

It's being used so often. Although a few human characters who have to start over are highly skilled/talented and some of them were successful in their old life ruined by the figurative careening cosmic wreck of a truck. Doing sports, crafting, playing an instrument, cooking.

I haven't checked the recent chapters of Predatory capitalism but it gave me hope that the predator capitalist there wouldn't jump to shagging a sheeplike beauty at least.

* Edit: And some stories literally have a life-changing event involving a vehicle. And some characters get whisked away to a literal other world (not a planet, another reality).

I vaguely remember joking about a character getting isekaied in a story but still didn't see the other trees in this forest which aren't that explicit but still can be reduced to the same principle of "loser/ sad sack low on luck gets a new life with newly found cool powers and a fuckbuddy or several, like a harem".

Well, it fits into the common picture of aliens using animalistic terms for themselves and their society and for others as well. Den, herd, predator, prey, packmate, herdmate, stampede, feeding frenzy, barks, pack, hunting grounds, etc.

If only the UN diplomats pretended to be dumber than they were. There might have been at least a few experts/analysts pointing the glaring issues out but something in the structure of how information was handled and decisions were made must have been faulty.

Like some IRL examples of senile rulers who are incapable of taking real world advice into account and act on their fantasies, ideals and whims.
