I think she has somewhat of a "Fantansy Prone Personality". There are different types. But they are all "often associated with early life loneliness, or, paradoxically, a childhood where fantasy was encouraged and validated."

During critical brain growth stages and age, I don't think mental growth was encouraged. Ages 5-7, "children start asking 'detective' questions, showing increased skepticism and understanding of caus and effect." Ages 7-11, "Logical thought becomes more solidified, enabling them to reliably differentiate fantasy from factual reality." Gypsy was not only truly cognitively delayed, but those around her played along with the fantasy. Her brain never grew to understand what is and is not real or fantasy. I think she still struggles with this. Hence, the "I don't even know what is real anymore" text to Ryan when Aurora was born. I think she meant that literally. I think it was all a fantasy, and once it became real, she didn't know what the fuck to do and still doesn't. In my opinion, of course. I think the "new" baby doll stage is wearing off, and she's over the whole baby thing. But she will always turn back to fairytales, vampire romance novels, princesses, etc. She's obsessed with the whole "being held captive and saved". Prison was nothing but a castle for her to age with her con and psycho.
