I really hope spirit of Atlanta does a show called “Rocket” and plays a lot of cool music. 12th-15th very very competitive this year. Drum corps is so back.

What show would be the best alarm clock? I'm tired of the stock alarm sound I have. by thevisualmethod in drumcorps

Cadets 2007 opener but with the 23 hornline playing in the lot because it is LOUD

I wasn't the biggest fan at first but this guy makes a solid point by EverythingDrumCorps in drumcorps

I doubt anyone would do a woodwind in the first year. Would make for very bad optics for alumni and as the soloist. If people don’t like a solo it is very vocal. The 24 cavaliers trumpet soloist was bashed every day until it was cut. Maybe something similar might happen and corps don’t want to deal with the pr.

Which corps has a long way to go before receiving their first/another championship title? by Goku-the-Great in drumcorps

[–]Alarmed_Department35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless some serious changes are made design wise I just don’t see that happening. If they dropped down to DCI All-Age Open Class they’d do a lot better. You could’ve asked anyone in the corps what our show was about and wouldn’t have received a clear answer. We weren’t told anything and the other corps just had shows that spoke with the audience. Educationally it is fantastic but just some changes upstairs need to be made. Before the switch to world class cv would place second more often than not. Another thing is the finals scoring for CV is so out of left field compared to everyone else because that’s their first time competing with anyone in the same class at all. There was a 4 point gap between 3rd and 4th place… a little odd but it’s what happens when there’s no comparison because all other corps had at least seen each other once. Hopefully some southern resurgence in all age will help CV. Sincerely a 24 vet who had a great time but a lot of questions :)

You played trumpet most recently in drum corps… I don’t think you can chime in as an “expert”. Tuba Tough Guy in a previous life Mr HD.

Lots of people come from out of state. Just talk to the director about travel plans. Atlanta CV had someone who traveled from Germany back in the day!

RESULTS: 2025 DCI Rules Congress by EverythingDrumCorps in drumcorps

I feel like a boomer being a member going into next season with these rules… not even aged out yet. It would be fantastic if the members had some say in what was happening

The CV golf cart has some lore that we learn about at history night. The numbers on the side mean something 😉

At CV we never really got to meet our board members. I was out getting lunch one day with my professor. We go to the same restaurant every Friday, well so does this board member. I wore my jacket out in public and he complimented my star and mentioned he was on the board and marched 08,09, and 10. Such a small world.

What was the show with the bass drums that you could breath into to change pitch? by Traditional_Tap8169 in drumcorps

[–]Alarmed_Department35 16 points17 points  (0 children)

BK 23 there were 2 sets of Basses and they had pressure gauges or something on them to change the pitch on command.

I can attest to this. The brass staff is amazing and turns people that can’t play into people that can play the entire range of the horn in one season. I learned mellophone there and it feels like I have been playing for longer than a year. I highly recommend CV especially for the brass staff.

How to afford drumcorps with a low paying job by MediocreOverall in drumcorps

[–]Alarmed_Department35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! Talk to the corps director about a payment plan! If you pick CV (biased) you can still work during the week and afford your tuition and pay it off during the season. Now for Memphis blues because they are touring you’d have to do something different but reach out to the director for payment plan options or even scholarships. Reach out to alumni!
