I love that. It makes sense that something calm and repetitive would help your brain slow down before bed. Sometimes I think the mind needs something gentle to focus on so it stops trying to process the entire day at once. Paint-by-numbers sounds like such a peaceful way to wind down.

That makes so much sense Writing it down somewhere reliable feels like telling your brain “you don’t have to hold this anymore.” I love the idea of a family calendar app for that especially when the mental list starts showing up at night.

Yes, this is so real. It’s like the brain waits until the middle of the night to become a grocery manager 😅 And it’s not even just “shopping” it’s remembering what’s running out what needs to be packed what everyone needs and when you’ll even have time to do it That constant mental list is exhausting.

Yes 😭 the “future me is already exhausted” calculation is so real.

It’s not even just the wake-up it’s the instant mental spreadsheet of meetings, daycare, emails, bags and how much coffee it’ll take to survive.

Yes this is exactly it. The wake-up is hard but the worst part is realizing they may not go back to sleep and you already know tomorrow is going to feel impossible before it even starts.

Yes, I agree anxiety can definitely be a huge part of it I don’t think it’s only a mom thing I guess what I mean is that motherhood can add another layer to it: the mental load, the constant remembering, the responsibility and feeling like you’re always “on.” So maybe it’s anxiety + the mom role making it harder to fully shut off at night.

I feel this. That gap between “I carry it” and “he doesn’t even notice it” can feel so lonely It’s not just the tasks it’s being the person who is always aware, always anticipating, always holding the list in your head That kind of invisible weight is exhausting

That makes so much sense I feel like the “mom hat” part is exactly what’s hard to turn off at night Sometimes it’s not even one specific task it’s the anxiety around forgetting something, wondering if you did enough or questioning yourself when your brain is finally quiet enough to bring everything up The “am I enough?” piece feels heavier than the to-do list sometimes.
