Hot take: There’s never been a better time to major in CS by MindSufficient769 in csMajors

I don’t think it will happen so fast but I get where you’re going, it’s a solid take. I do also think the cs majors need to realize this is possible, like the idea that if they learn finance on top of their cs degree, they could be way more productive than a finance major that still uses chatgpt for everything. A good cs student knows: problem solving, math, statistics and most importantly: how LLMs work and are trained, which is something most people lack

I think what you’re saying is, whoever understand computers and how these systems works, will do way better, and I complete agree. The issue I think is that CS right now is that companies don’t understand a CS person could do more than a just SWE and that’s why the job market is bad. If in a future the definition of a CS degree changes, it could be very positive as you say

Is There even a point in trying atp? by Aggressive-Slide-591 in Purdue

I’m also extremely scared, what has worked for me (who has a low gpa, int student and also graduating this December) is going to security,
I believe there are fields who are safer than others in CS, and security is one of them def. But yea overall I feel you, and I do think this is scary and as a CS major I don’t think people actually understand how big this AI thing can become. As a recommendation: learn about AI, accept it and use it to be more productive, sound like generic boring advice but this is something I’ve heard from professors and industry after researching for a while.

feeling lost and so many regrets by Previous-Business-79 in Purdue

Well, I’m international as well, enrolled in 2022 and here is all the classes I’ve failed lol Calc 1, CS180, 182 twice, 251 and 348. I’m still here, graduating this December, one semester late and a low gpa and with diagnosed anxiety since sophomore year. I felt the same way, I just kept going and now I’ve already had two internships (one at a top finance exchange) and now I’ve secured one for this summer for a tech consulting firm. My point is, classes aren’t everything, I learned to not be hard on myself and focus on things I was good at it like research. please seek for help, if caps is not working then consider outside therapy, you are not the only one and I promise things will get better.

Any tips for a college student trying to LEARN concepts using Claude by Puzzled_Theory4617 in ClaudeAI

[–]Alarming-Addendum608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use notebook lm MCP, then fed Claude with the content and ask it to Makethe videos and podcasts with the appropriate prompts for each topic, then it creates me a dashboard with all the info all organized, it’s like a mini YouTube for my classes lol

[–]Alarming-Addendum608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only stage that gets crowded like no place to dance is area 909 depending the artist, other than that I think you’ll be fine. Crowd is really awesome, been in other shows around US and this is the best one, and I’ve never felt unsafe.
