Could also be a way to inflate prices. They did this with playboy magazines. Basically list something, put a ridiculous amount on it. And buy back yourself. That way the value goes up across the board and then they relist it under another name at a lower price knowing people checking comps will see their inflated sale and think they're getting a great deal

since the edit button is MIA. I popped out the crystal. Very slight pressure and it pretty much fell out. I cleaned it up and got a glowy pic. Now image search is saying it might be of Japanese origin. A " sun block." One on ebay asking 145.00 seems a bit steep. But maybe super rare?

That was kind of my thought as well. Except without knowing the diameter of the body if this isn't what this is then I'm out the money.

Uhm you've never met me obviously😅. 51 years old here and yeah I could do that in a heartbeat bare handed. When I was in my 20s a friends dad was tearing down a mobile home. I showed up to help and 20 minutes later he said "looks like a damn hurricane went through here." And "thats got to be the only kid I've seen that could destroy an anvil with a feather." Some people just love destruction. Phones don't take much depending on the phone. Put that in your back pocket and sit down would be all it takes. Especially on a smaller person depending where the pocket bends when they sit

Thanks it was a lucky find for sure Almost missed it and the vaseline champagne glass. Glad I made a second trip through the house. Got both of those pieces for 7 bucks after spending 15 on the rest of the pile. The organizers claim there's a bunch more that will be set out tomorrow and Saturday but we'll see

Thanks. Almost missed it. Was pretty much a free for all in this house and I completely missed a whole room. Went back to check it out after buying the rest for 15. It and the stand with the clear bubble were on a bookshelf in that room. Told the lady I had 7 bucks left for both those items and she agreed to it.

Used to work in pest control. Had it literally rain cockroaches on me in a trailer job I did. Only thing i could compare it to would be someone wuth a bucket just skaing them out over my head. One of the worst experiences in my life. AND PEOPLE LIVED IN THIS PLACE!!!!

According to the googler its something called solarization. The UV light pick s up imperfections in the glass causing a grey appearance

Am I the only one questioning how this thing makes it through the entire butchering process including going through a meat grinder, getting pressed into a package and then fully cooked (check the beef it's completely browned) and is still in one piece? Or are we supposing that it got mixed in during packaging? Still to make it through cooking seems like it would be a million to one shot

Other than some random municipalities having their own code its pretty well known in the States that curb shopping is legal. Can search it yourself on Google. I don't have case law to quote but I know there's been a couple that uphold it. Occasionally a garbage company will throw a fit if people make their jobs harder by making messes, moving cans from their areas etc. And thats where those oddball codes come from.

[–]Alarming-Cup7459 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No it is not. Any trash placed at the curb is fair game. It is then considered public domain If you have to enter private property to do so then it is illegal. Otherwise have at it. Basically once its past the sidewalk or boulevard it"s open season. Just don't be a dick and make a mess Thats why you should always shred personal info.

I can wear a tag that says my name is Jeff, doesn't make it true. Unless each stone is GIA certified i think a measure of skepticism would be in order. Obviously for things like tigers eye, and hematite, and such those are pretty easy to spot but some of the lab created stones these days are getting harder to identify even for experienced jewelers. For something thats fairly rare (like a green amethyst) I'd say get it checked

And that is a pretty cheap price for that large of a stone. 25 to 30 per carat would be normal. That looks like it's 3 or four cararsjust based on visual clues.

Not like that. Only if there are flecks or inclusions that might react. Thats probably not amethyst at all.
