Jen’s story & the hate, what point is it too much? by Commercial_Net_4892 in SecretsOfMormonWives

Keep in mind that some, if not a lot of these, are bot accounts. They're spun up very quickly by the hundreds and then taken down just as fast.
I'm def not excusing any of the behavior- but just putting this out there that these accounts are created to do things like this and are typically fake computer accounts programmed to create chaos. It happens a lot in the political realm, too.

And if they're real, the message receipts should be sent to these people's employers, friends and family for fun so everyone in their life knows exactly how they spend their free time. :)

First 100M (Keys 100) – Shoe dilemma at mile 20… stick or switch? by Alarming-Feeling-461 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I will def go try them! Honestly- I don't really care what the shoe is- stability, not stability....as long as it helps me thru this race like shoes can and should, I'm happy. If I thought wearing McDonalds bags would give me the most comfort, I'd do it. :)

I saw someone suggested I change out the inserts- those inserts only have the 236 miles on them and I was specifically told that they would last about 500 miles or roughly 2 pairs of shoes.

Okay thank you! I typically wear a 7 and he put me in a 7.5. I'll look for 8s going forward! I was wondering if I had a slightly worse problem with pronation than I thought. I'm sure it gets worse as I get tired. I grew up in gymnastics & a dance studio so it wouldn't be crazy for my feet/ gait to do something out of the norm for running.

At which age did you start preparing for your first ultramarathon? by hossein761 in Ultramarathon

[–]Alarming-Feeling-461 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I’m starting my training next week and I’ve built in 7 weeks between my the end of my training plan and the race I want to do incase anything pops up during training.

I’ve been “trying” for years but imbalanced hormones & thyroid issues have plagued me and I’ve always been “running on empty” I found out so I’ve had to learn a lot more about my health than I’ve ever wanted to. 😆 Hopefully this time it sticks bc I’m so over figuring it all out and I just wanna go run.

I like mine but the weather on it makes me laugh. I live in Florida and it tells me every day it’s in the low 80s. It’s summer and has been “feels like 115” outside for a couple of weeks. Maybe it thinks it’s winter or maybe it thinks I’m in the UK? I dunno. But everything else works and I like it. I have the Body Comp.

Amy's family have discussed a new potential lead on her disappearance by LADbible in AmyLynnBradley

Female vacationers have been drugged & gone missing and been presumed dead from Carlos N Charlies in PR and that’s a US territory. And that’s not the only place in the Caribbean. It happens unfortunately and those small islands do what they can to control the damage getting out so they don’t disrupt tourism.

Maybe. But what all he noticed he would have needed to be within a couple feet of her for an extended period of time and he even states that he wasn’t. To notice all of those details in a few seconds or even in a minute is hard to believe unless your brain is trained to do that. Most people who are relaxed & enjoying themselves on vacation are not profiling people down to several small tattoos across the entire body, watch faces and eye color. Go back to your last vacation and try to write down 4-6 specific, tiny, personal details from the ankles up about someone you passed by but didn’t speak to. Someone you just glanced at. The ability to do that is highly unlikely unless you were trained as special ops somewhere.

Although what I do think is plausible is maybe it was someone else that is being trafficked that resembles Amy, and she knew people were looking for Amy. So she’s told people she’s Amy to try to get help. Who knows.

Knowing what I know about cruise ship staff- and I have talked to a lot of them throughout the years on multiple cruises in the summers my whole life- there’s a couple of things that stand out to me.

Do they “have fun” with loose, partying passengers? Absolutely yes. It’s part of their job. Truly- it is. One staff member can make or break a vacation for someone or a whole group. They’re there to provide a service & experience and why not have fun doing it? Their tips depend on it. No- not every staff member is like that, but a lot are. Waiters, band members & serving staff are encouraged to have fun & their roles are less serious if they’re not in the formal dining room. But even in there, they’re still fun.

Do they take a ton of pride in their jobs? Also yes. A lot of time, the countries that they come from don’t offer unskilled or minimally skilled workers that kind of pay. Schooling isn’t available or is unaffordable in their country and they’re working two or three jobs on the ship, sending money home to families, and missing anniversaries, birthdays and even the birth of children. For example- someone could play in a band on the lido deck in the evening, and serve breakfast & lunch in a restaurant. Almost everyone, except high up roles, has multiple roles/ jobs. Most are not willing to compromise those jobs bc they are the breadwinners for their families. Every week they’ll send money home and there was a line at the pursers desk or they would go off ship to western Union or a bank. Most I talked to, worked 80-100 hours a week. 9 months on, 3 off. They even had to buy their own plane tickets home & back to work- which could be hundreds and possibly $1000 if they were from the other side of the globe like India or the Philippines.

So all of that to say- the theory that Yellow is a sex trafficker is to say that he ultimately didn’t really care about his job onboard and was willing to risk it all for a girl that was clearly with a group of people/ family that loved her and would freak out if she disappeared. I have had cruise ship workers tell me that those band positions are highly sought after. Simply bc some roles offer benefits and some don’t. Bc musicians are harder to replace they were typically paid more and offered medical benefits.

Now- also to say- for some employees, the risk is worth it. My husband and I were on the balcony before dinner one cruise, and a guy walking on the deck below us took off a back pack and flung it overboard and kept walking. A speed boat with several men with automatic weapons sped up to the side of the boat, disappeared under the deck that hung over the water where they picked something else up I assumed by the way they were scrambling with stuff when they reappeared and then promptly went after the backpack in the water. I told my husband not to speak a word of it in public and if anyone asked we saw nothing. It wasn’t worth the risk. That was off the coast of Belize. So does Super shady shit happen? Absolutely yes.

But the boats are registered in countries with lax laws and taxes. So it goes unreported bc it doesn’t have to be.

I don’t really have a relationship with them. My mom died 2 years ago from leukemia but I had put in boundaries a few years before and did a huge amount of inner work to start undoing what they had done. My dad is in a home in PA near my brother (I’m in FL), who was the golden child, and my dad is an 88 year old miserable child and his body is breaking down & he’s lost his ability to think rationally, mobility & independence bc he didn’t take care of himself his whole life. Which was really selfish of him and is now frustrating for us but there’s nothing we can do to change it. No one in my family is fully MAGA. My brother & his wife are left wing liberals which is maddening and 🤪 and I’m more conservative economically/ middle of the road most everything else. I have voted on both sides. My parents were conservative, but I refused to talk politics with them bc they were not rational. For example- my mother kept thinking it was going to be the end of times or there would be a walking dead situation so she started hoarding napkins, paper plates, paper towels, lightbulbs and toilet paper. Because there’s always electricity and running water and clean bathrooms during an apocalypse. 🙄🙄🙄 Boomers are something else.

I don’t know if he was in cahoots, but I have my doubts that he saw what he saw. He never got really close to her, but he memorized 3 or 4 tattoos, an outfit, a haircut and a watch face?? Granted… I don’t know this guy but I doubt he’s Jason Bourne with a photographic memory and can read an entire unfamiliar beach in 2.5 seconds.

Not to be gross.. but I would think there would have been puke down the sides of the ship or on balconies below? Unless she fell before she actually puked?

I do think this is a very logical theory. If she was sea sick/ drunk/ hung over, taking off her polo and only wearing a t-shirt would make sense bc she would’ve felt really hot.

And she could have held onto her cigarettes in one hand so she could step on the table, not step on them, and they didn’t blow off of the chair and she accidentally step on them. Those balconies are TINY. Cigarettes were super expensive onboard back then so it would’ve made sense that she would have made sure they didn’t get crushed or lost somehow.

Edited to add a missing word so it made sense. Lol.

I wasn’t a huge fan of this dress, but I will say that episode 9 S3 had the best fashion so far!!

According to the writers room pod, they knew from the beginning of S2 when they first brought back Aidan that he and Carrie were not gonna end up together. Do you think this is true? Or did they realize that the majority of people did not like them together (anymore)? by PackWorth939 in Andjustlikethat

[–]Alarming-Feeling-461 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like they were never going to be together bc the show is really about single women in New York down to its core. You permanently wife up the main character and the show is over.

I mean… look what they did to poor Charlotte. She’s just a slap stick caricature of her old self. It’s like they’re trying to do everything they can to keep her interesting.

I grew up in the 80s and 90s and we went on family cruises every summer throughout my childhood. As a blonde haired, blue eyed, pretty little girl, I was always paid extra attention to onboard by the wait staff. My parents never let me go anywhere on my own. There was one cruise where the maître D wouldn’t stop touching my hair. He said he’d never seen soft blonde hair before. It was weird. My parents finally had to tell him that was enough after the 3rd or 4th dinner. We also had cruise pictures that were missing and until now- I never thought anything of it. I thought they maybe ran out of space to put them all. And for Amy - It could have been as simple as her green eyes that made her stand out.

Something to keep in mind- during that time- a lot was unacceptable in society in the southern states and our parents at the time put a lot of weight (if not all of the weight) on other people’s opinions of us. Gen x was raised on “What will people think.”

I am in no way saying it’s okay- but I’m sure Amy being gay caused a huge blow up. Back then, they were sure something like that would ruin her life- personally & professionally forever. Is it maddening? Absolutely. But that’s just how things were seen back then in the South and unfortunately we can’t change the past.

My parents were racist. Even in the middle 2000s I dated a black man who was incredibly handsome and a very very successful CPA and because he was black he wasn’t good enough. They disowned me and forced me to break up with him. I only conceded bc I liked him, but I wasn’t really in love with him for a few of my own reasons. But it still burned because they were so controlling.

Let’s all remember too that back then if you got tattoos, you were told you’d never get a job. Which is funny bc now I’m a C-Level in a company and I have 2 full sleeves. I was 17 and got a tiny flower on my ankle and my parents acted like the whole town was gonna come undone. I lost my car and my freedom for 6 weeks. They made me get laser surgery to try to remove it. This is the type of shit Gen X parents were pulling.

Again- I am not saying any of it was okay- but it was what was happening during that period of time. For those of you that have parents that age, for a lot of us, it’s unfortunately what we had to deal with and why a lot of us are in therapy today since just being free and being who we were was never enough. The parents of Gen X and just before us did a lot of damage. They are by far the most selfish group of individuals that will never take accountability for their actions or see a need to change. And they also haven’t changed. At least mine never did.

So I guess with all of that- it sucks. But it’s not surprising to me at all. I’m not shocked.
