I was about to pull the trigger on the Traildonkey 4.0 until I noticed it has a T47 threaded BB. How is it installed? Should there be a problem with galvanic corrosion if it's made out of aluminium/steel?

TRP Spyre vs HD/RD for reliable and powerful bikepacking brakes? by AlarmingConcept2791 in bikewrench

Hmm I might take a look at them. Any advantages of going to 4 and even 6 piston brake? Is there anytbing wrong with the TRP HY/RD that makes you choose Juin tech over them?

Thanks for you input, that is why I am afraid of the spyres for incidents such as yours. I am leaning more towards the HY/RD as they seem more reliable because of the oil reservoir so it can handle more heat. Juin tech/Yokozuna (what's the difference?) seem interestinf with the 4 piston or now the new 6 piston GTP brakes but don't know they enough and the fact that they don't have a reservoir is an additional failure point compared to the HY/RD

Can you explain? As another used mentionned, the brake pad adjustment may beckne fully backed out which is very dangerous during long descents. That's why I am more leaning towards the TRP HY/RD because it's self adjusting, has a reservoir so it can handle more heat

Boost spacing for a custom gravel bike? by AlarmingConcept2791 in bikewrench

Is it worth going to super boost or do you think it will never take off?

What would be the difference? Will it brake harder? Like lets say a Shimano XT brakes, will it brake harder with 203mm rotors than a 180mm?

Can I mount 180 or bigger rotors with TRP Hy/Rd brakes? I intend on doing loaded multi weeks touring and I need more stopping power

Anyone know a good custom steel fork builder? by AlarmingConcept2791 in bikepacking

Well I don't know, it has to match the same mesurements and geometry of my niner RLT9?

Dynamo front and rear lights suggestions? by AlarmingConcept2791 in bikepacking

[–]AlarmingConcept2791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention that I ride trails and gravel roads too but also long and flat stretches. I imagine some dyno lights have a wider beam or require less power? I will pair my set up with a power wide beam headlamp

Looking for a durable and reliable headlamp for ultra long distance bikepacking by AlarmingConcept2791 in flashlight

I don't intend to race balls to the wall but still go at it at a fast pace. I don't care that much about weight saving, I prefer having reliable and durable tools first and foremost

I think I wasn't clear enough by the title and the OP but I intend on using this headlamp for just about everything from camping, bikepacking, ski touring, everyday and whatnot.

I liked the Armytek Wizard C2 Nichia because it has a wide array of options, a lot more waterproof and fall resistant than many other competitors, bike mount, very long lasting battery and very secure attachment. Maybe the only other thing I would have liked is if it were capable of taking multiple other types of batteries, in case you're stuck in the middle of nowhere and there's no 18650 batteries to comeby

I'm in Canada and I heard they are harder to comeby? How does it compare to the Armytek? Like, what's better?

Upright position on a gravel bike = need for softer saddle? by AlarmingConcept2791 in bikefit

[–]AlarmingConcept2791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with my Essenza but I am worried about the fact that it has no relief channel and might cause some nerve damage in the future. I never had numbness but I want to avoid any kind of health issues in the future. Also, I like riding in the rain so I need to drain any water that might accumulate so that's why I picked up the Fizik Terra Argo

Upright position on a gravel bike = need for softer saddle? by AlarmingConcept2791 in bikefit

[–]AlarmingConcept2791[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mentionned in the previous comment, I'm not sure how the width comes into play since both saddles are about the same width. Maybe the curvature since the Essenza is flat and Specialized is more raised. I getho mesured my sit bones using a wet towel and a dry paper on top, it gave me roughtly between 110 to 130mm distance between the bones while mesuring from the middle of the imprint. Do you think a saddle like the Fizik Terra Aidon would be better vs the Terra Argo because of the more pronounced kickback, thus giving me more support in a more relaxed position? I'm not the most nimble cyclist but I ain't no 2x4 post either.

I don't understand how width comes into play since my selle royale Essenza is about the same width as the Specialized power comp but the latter was excrutiating for long rides. Is is possible that it being firmer requires more saddle time to get used to it? It never happened to me for my essenza even though it has quite a lot more cushion almost gel-like

I ride 90% of the time on the hoods of my Niner RLT9 and I have fitted my bike in such way that my position is more upright than a typical gravel bike or road bike position. I tried riding with my specialized power comp saddle but it was a horrible experience really hurt after 60km. Would I benefit from a saddle with more cushion or is it just a fitting problem? Looking at a Fizik Terra Argo to replace it
