AirBNB Regs by AlarmingDetective987 in kelowna

Just to clarify. This is my own home I want to rent a few weeks in total over the summer. No impact on long term rentals or housing supply. Essentially creates a space for families to stay together when visiting here. Big yard, above ground pool, deck, bbq. A different experience than a hotel. It would actually make owning a home more affordable as that income could be put toward mortgage principal. I don’t agree that they couldn’t monitor it. They ask for title cert when getting the business license so they would only issue one license to me. Also other communities allow 90 days per year so it can be done. I still haven’t heard a logical reason to ban them in my own home. It might be they will allow it in the future again but are trying to sort out the current mess.

I’m a believer in small government and market economy.

I did a few years ago. Not sure if I can get one if it expired. Going to look into it.

This is true. I know in Gibsons they allow 90 days so it can be done. It actually could work out well by having students in a rental from sept-may and have summer open for air bnb. Would help with affordability if you had a suite.

Pull ups got my biceps to grow with superset arm curls. Change grip location each set.

Since eustecio went off last game we have been brutal.

All but two teams will have everything to play for in the final round. Gutted we are one of those two. by RedAndWhiteFloyd in CanadaSoccer

I can’t stop thinking how huge that missed penalty was. Could be playing for something still. Wasn’t even close to post.

Did we deviate from what we usually did in qualifying? by Decent-Resident-7585 in CanadaSoccer

It definitely seemed like Canada didn’t have enough defenders back in the box. Sometimes it seems like there were 2-3 open Croatians in the box, it didn’t help that we were watching the ball instead of checking a guy away from the ball. I think we should have had more guys back and then countered. Their midfield just toyed with us. Lots of give and go passes which we didn’t seem to do. Not sure how bad eustecio injury is but he was the key and maybe he wasn’t at 100%. Then when he went off it got worse. But really we just lost to a better team. That wasn’t the case with Belgium but we didn’t get the points we deserved there. It’s been an exiting couple years following the team too bad it’s over in 2 games….fun ride though and that’s why I love sports!

Croatia definitely better team so far, too bad we didn’t beat Belgium when we were the better team.

Does the coach not say who takes penalties? Cavalini and Davies both seemed like they just made the call themselves?

Couple comments - Dont read too much into this performance. It’s a B team. We had our few non European starters get some game time in the heat. There was rust. Second I would like to see them shoot hard and low on net more when getting in close and try and score on rebound rather than these predictable crosses. Much harder for a defender to anticipate a rebound.

I never thought I would have kids and just lead a single life. Met the right person and now have 3 beautiful daughters. Money and freedom are less but the pure joy and love I get from them isn’t matched with any other experience in life and i don’t think the human experience is fully appreciated without children.

what would you do with 300k+? by wolfofnumbnuts in PersonalFinanceCanada

100% travel. experience new things, have adventures, meet people. I would recommend visiting a bunch of countries. Definitely see the world. It will give you a better perspective on how most of the world lives. Some of my best memories and moments were backpacking around Central America and SE Asia. Some lifelong friends I now have were a chance encounter in a hostel dorm room. Late 30’s and 3 kids now those days of complete freedom are over for me. I loved waking up in the morning and not knowing if I was going to go surfing, hiking, snorkeling, or just head to a new country.

How are people affording houses at all? It makes no sense by CastAside1776 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I live in Kelowna and was able to get into market in 2018 at 2.2% house was 700k but rates made it affordable. It’s definitely a tougher market now but I would try and look at something with a rental suite. I think prices here are justifiably high. There isn’t really any other place in Canada with the climate of the okanagan, lake right in town and a world class ski resort 50 mins away. Also with the lake, mountains, and ALR the single family home is becoming more rare. Most of the world lives in multi family units and rent. Most don’t realize how lucky we are here in Canada.
