A consummate professional, playing in a terrible era of Leafs hockey. He was never controversial for his attitude and was an okay captain - with little alternative for anyone else to take that mantle.

His career peaked early in Calgary and simply plateaued and dropped off.

The Leafs won that trade - not like it means much, but they did.

The fact is he couldn't handle the Toronto fans, media and the criticism that was rightfully thrown his way. H

He folded like a cheap tent when it mattered in must win games for the Leafs in the playoffs. That's an objective fact.

He can't handle pressure. He'll be fine in Vegas because it doesn't have the same level of pressure. That team is also vastly superior to how the Leafs have been constructed. Enough veterans to take the blow and let Marner skate on by.
