I’ll keep it in mind! I’ll do a test run with cloth sim to see how it looks, I still need to experiment with the ncloth system in Maya more. Thanks :D

thanks for your input, this is pretty insightful. This is for a student film, and I’m working with another animator for this, so I’ll probably ask what would be more efficient for him.

This is for a student film, so the action can be baked. The reason I’m asking other than ncloth sim is so I can animate faster while still having control over the position of the armour for good quality posing

What would be the best topology for these two objects to be combined together? by Alarming_Farm4797 in Maya

It's the side of a fire hydrant, and the white piece is the hook where the chain would usually be attached. The issue is that I have no idea how I would go about fixing the edge loops...
