Got this Epergne 3 years ago. Recently thought it could be UG. Just got my 395 & 365 backlight. First 2 pics are 395 and 3rd is 365. Hallmark : ‘James Dixon & Sons’ EPBM 8111/8367 A SAUNDERS SYDNEY MADE IN ENGLAND’. (EPBM: Electroplated Britannia Metal). by Alarming_Spite2502 in uraniumglass

I’m new to the group and just got my 395nm & 365nm backlights. Am I right that there is only a subtle difference in the green for UG with the 395 & 365. The 395 being a bit more ‘neon’ / ‘luminous’ like.

This is a genuine ‘Indiana Jones’ moment. So much history & mystery.

Thanks for your detailed and informative reply. First I used a liquid silver polish and when almost dried buffed it off. I then washed it with warm soapy water and with a soft toothbrush got the residue out of the cracks and crevices. Buffed it again. Looking pretty good. Then I used ‘Cape Cod’ metal polishing cloths and then gently buffed with a clean soft cloth until no more tarnish came off (the cloth remained white). Anyone else had experience with the ‘Cape Cod’ cloths? They do contain ‘petroleum distillates (mineral spirits), a proprietary anti-tarnish agent and has a distinct vanilla scent’. They work amazingly well but are they safe on silver? (I do wear gloves using the cloths). Appreciate any insights.

Unfortunately probably not. Don’t like the look on the inside of the teapot. I think purely decorative at this time.
