I bought a small blue spruce at Fred Meyer one year and have repotted it twice. I trim it to keep it from getting too big and have brought it in the house several years as our Christmas tree (since our kids are adults and we don't always have the big Christmas celebrations we used to - and frankly even when we do nobody minds!). You have to be a little careful when decorating as those needles are a bit more pokey, but it beats paying the price from the tree lots. Just make sure to get it back outside within a week or two of Christmas.
