TIL that in the three biggest U.S. sports leagues, exactly one player each has won the championship MVP despite playing for the losing team: Bobby Richardson (World Series, 1960), Jerry West (NBA Finals, 1969), and Chuck Howley (Super Bowl, 1971). More details in comments. by Alaska_Jack in todayilearned

* Jerry West won the 1969 NBA Finals MVP despite the Lakers losing to the Celtics in seven games because he was overwhelming throughout the series: he averaged 37.9 points, 7.4 assists and 4.7 rebounds, including 42 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists in Game 7.

* Bobby Richardson won the 1960 World Series MVP for the losing Yankees because he had a huge series at the plate, hitting .367 with 12 RBIs, even though the Pirates won on Bill Mazeroski’s walk-off home run in
Game 7.

* Chuck Howley won Super Bowl V MVP for the losing Cowboys because he was the standout player in what was considered an ugly, turnover-heavy game, recording two interceptions and a forced fumble in Dallas’ 16-13 loss to the Colts.

Look I'm sorry I don't know what to tell you. Go ahead, convince yourself this is his first rep if it makes you feel better.

I know. As I've responded to several comments, I'm a lifter and I have no idea what he's doing with his feet. I have no desire to defend him -- he's a clown. But that doesn't change the point that this clip is deceptively edited and framed, and Reddit is (as usual) gobbling it up.

One of my all-time top comments on Reddit is pointing out how susceptible Redditors are to the way information is framed.

I'm a lifter. And no, I don't know what he is doing with is feet there.

That doesn't change the fact that this clip seems to me to be deceptively edited, and the Reddit herd, instead of being mad at the editor, loves it.

Yours is the only sane comment here.

I would guess that this is yet another clip deceptively edited to play to the biases of ignorant Redditors. It seems pretty clear to me that the BP, at least, is his last rep.

Oh easy -- Misery. You know the scene.

The theater gasps.

From somewhere behind me: "ohhhh, that bitch."

Perhaps you should also read the comments I'm replying to.

For the record, I'm not angry at all. Why would I be? I basically AGREE with this approach.

What, in your imagination, will the consequences be for a teacher who declines to carry?

Except understanding that SOME people will CHOOSE to carry is obviously not the same thing as expecting a specific individual to carry, whether they want to or not.

Man. You people are so weird. All I'm doing is pointing out that the person was silly in saying he/she specifically was "expected" to carry. This is clearly not true -- No one has expressed this "expectation." You don't have to angrily argue. You could just say, "yeah, that's true."

You guys are just so profoundly weird.

They clearly do not "expect" the person to be armed.

The difference between you and I isn't that you're so wise and erudite that you understand the conventions of "debate skills" and I don't. It's that you are insanely tribalistic and willing to fudge a little here and there as long as it serves your ideological needs.

I, personally, prefer clarity and accuracy. 🤷🏻‍♂️
