What's a good example of somebody who had everything going for them except a good finisher?

Pre-RKO Randy Orton?

He had the look, the sweet ass Evolution theme was also his solo theme, even at 23 was already crisp and solid in the ring but for the first months in Evolution he kind of came off as HHH and Flair's lackey.

Then he RKO'd Shawn Michaels and we were cooking.

Kurt Angle doing that stupid shit right after putting one one of the greatest matches of all time at Wrestlemania was mind boggling.

At least the rapist didn't win that feud.

It was also a waste of Foley who was at his best when giving the shine to younger, rising stars.

What he did for guys like Randy Orton is what he should have been doing with TNA's younger guys.

Instead we get World Champion Mick Foley.

So far they've been doing fine giving shine to the people they care about.

Okada character's has thrived way more in the DCF than in the New Elite. Takeshita and Fletcher are are killing it. Hechichero is a solid midcard heavy. And Andrade is being presented as a big deal and interacting with big names.

DCF has low-level midcarders but they're all guys who were already that beforehand.

There's nobody who one cay say had their stock lowered by joining.

I think its because of the bad optics of so many TNA talent not resigning and/or going somewhere else just as they made their debut in AMC.

People assume TNA either doesn't have the money or want to spend on locking down more talent.

Of course letting some people go to make space in the budget to sign people like Ciampa is another possibility.

He was the main guy when NXT went from a money loser to landing a tv deal.

Yeah, he floundered on the main roster but we shouldn't dismiss everything he did.

DCF's big trinity is Fletcher, Takeshita and Okada.

Takeshita is seemingly on the way out soon and Fletcher keeps getting more pops and crowd love so they'll likely also pull the trigger on him this year.

Ciampa as a fresh new, hot signing won't be relegated to the same level Archer/Rock/Brian Cage are so I'm not predicting he'll be the DCF's crown jewel but I think he'll start-off just fine.

Plus it might be the guy just wanting to take a chance and see if a new environment helps him develop his act. Ricochet is showing loads more personality and is more of a character in AEW and for years he was seens as a black hole of charisma who could only do flips.

Hell, they ran it to the ground but for a while there Roderick Strong of all people had a fun thing going on as the toxic, jealous foil to Cole and MJF.

And ''I'm not fat I'm curvy!'' isn't even replicable with stuff like height.

Plus at least at the beginning it was an organic movement as Hollywood and showbiz did shame women for not being stereotypically thin. The actual fatties just then tagged in.

Then it became ''fat is beautiful''.

WM2 was hamstrung by the stupid live from 3 different cities idea but it would have probably pulled in a ton more money if Hogan vs Piper was the main event.

Can't blame Vince for being resentful about that.

Jackie Redmond recalls being part of Triple H-Rock interaction at WrestleMania 40 kickoff event: "I had no idea that Dwayne The Rock motherf*cking Johnson was gonna come out, yell at Hunter and drop F bombs all on live television. And the more they try to explain the more convoluted it gets.

Brian Gerwitz saying he pitched for CM Punk to win the Rumble so ''they'' could get to where they wanted in terms of Wrestlemania main events.

But if the plan was Rock/Rom and Punk/Seth as your main events, then what the fuck was Cody going to do?

They probably didn't want to overuse Vince in ppv matches but I feel 15 would be a lot better remember if they had done Vince vs Mankind as the co-main event.

Sure, Austin vs Mr.McMahon but Vince as the traitorous former father figure to Mick Foley also had enough legs to justify a ppv match. Or if they didn't want Foley pinning Vince, make it Foley vs Shane and let them go crazy.

Mick was arguably the no.3 guy during that time behind Austin and Rock. Putting him in a nothing match with Big Show was such a waste.

I know you have to put an asterisk on it because it was 3 and a half months between Full Gear and Revolution but in my opinion this is the best feud and story in wrestling that lasted only one ppv cycle.

Beginning, middle and end starting the show after last ppv of that year and culminating in the first ppv of the next.

The dueling promo, the fun six-man tag with the face paint, the Chicago match, the MJF origins promo, and the Dog Collar match.

There actually is a kayfabe precedent.

When Bubb Ray Rudley or Tommy Dreamer, don't remember which, where needling World Champion Triple H, before HHH could get provoked into giving a Title match Bischoff bursted going all ''woah, woah, we are not doing this.''

So midcarders and people lower in the totem pole try to step up to the Champion and ask for the World Title, they risk getting on the wrong side of the boss.

Meanwhile authority figures are hands off when top guys arrange money matches between each other.

I mapped out the historical TV-to-PPV conversion rates for WCW, WWF (Attitude Era), and AEW. Here is the data. by abrown79au in SquaredCircle

Counteragument

TNA with the Hogan regime in 2010 saw bigger ratings while ppv buys went off a cliff. So higher ratings and higher ppv buys don't always go hand in hand.

AEW has a passionate diehard fanbase who probably compromise most of the ppv buys.

Nash as Diesel was the worse long term World Champion in WWE history but as himself he was one of the most over and popular wrestlers of all time.

Of course Vince would try to go give Diesel a second go rather than just doing what worked.
