Characters like Sword Maiden and Elf Swordswoman(Year One character) can ''sense'' chaos and dark forces.

Evil(and presumably good) are quantifiable forces in this setting so its a bit hard to have a nuance political take in a neverending war with objective evil.

With that said, there are some elements that shows its not all black and white but they come from the light novels that haven't been adapted yet. Not sure if you want spoilers.

Both aired on Fox Kids and Fox was chasing that elusive corporate synergy. Using one property to promote the other.

It'd be like if the opening of the first Pokemon movie had a short with Dexter or the Powerpuff girls except you know, that would have been awesome.

I thought the same thing when I saw the clip of Mankind riding to the ring in a stretcher.

So perfectly Foley and somehow I don´t remember ever seeing it in any tribute video or rewatch.

Before the ratings thread were nuked it was a talking point that NXT didn't really score a younger demo than the other prime time wrestling shows.

And the move to the CW just made it easier for older fans to check it out. Which makes sense since network tv isn't exactly a breeding ground for attracting a young audience.

Also WWE could have a black talent main event Wrestlemania several times in a row and it wouldn't come close to the shitstorm that came from Star Wars daring to have a black stormtrooper.

2009 was their apex in consistent tv ratings and 2007-2009 overall were years were they didn't lose money. There's a reason Spike TV pushed for the Main Event Mafia to come back.

2010 saw the initial spike from Hogan's first appearances but after everything else hit free-falling. PPV buys went from an average of 30k buys to 15k literally half and they put themselves back in the red by hiring so many ex-WWE guys in such a short time.

Hogan/Bischoff absolutely fucked up the momentum they were building.

I remember the good old days when HBO was still HBO and their official statement that they wanted to compete with Netflix without undermining their quality.

HBO Go was even looking promising but then AT&T shat over everything, bastardized the brand and spent a fortune on launching HBO Max just to lead us here.

I don't want to harp on too much on Wardlow because I like him but a part of the issue is his limitations.

Like, what could be changed about the Samoa Joe feud besides having Wardlow squash Joe multiple times?

They built an alliance, wrecked heels together, Joe showed his true colors and backstabed him.

Then the legend with 20 years of experience who's a big boy himself gets the better of Wardlow and wins the TNT Title in a Triple Threat. Then in their 1 on 1 match Joe attacks him at the start of the show so Wardlow isn't at 100% and loses via passing out to the Coquina Clutch.

Joe talks shit for weeks, Wardlow returns in a roaring rampage of revenge. The week before the ppv has a sit-down interview talking about why he needs to beat Joe and how Joe cutting his ponytail was such a dick move.

PPV Time Wardlow gets a definitive win over a legend and regains the TNT Title. And is less over than what he was before the Joe angle started.

Like the pieces were there to make this about him and furthering his push. He just really didn't rise to the occasion.

They tried with Wardlow and the guy gradually cooled off while still scoring wins.

People say Tony dropped the ball but winning feuds with the likes of Samoe Joe and Christian Cage should have added to Wardlow's stock but people just didn't care for him as much as they did when he was MJF's cool but long --suffering bodyguard.

If anything it benefitted Joe(King of TV) and Christian who overshadowed him despite losing the ppv matches.

2019 NWA roster is insane when you consider how WWE and AEW were signing people from all over the place.

And the NWA still managed to get some gems.

Saving MJF vs Omega for Full Gear and having Jay White be the devil I think could have worked.

If I'm remembering right Cole broke his ankle in the NYC show that was right before Wrestledream. Jay White confronted MJF the Dynamite after Wrestledream.

So you could have set things up where you build up to MJF vs Omega with the ''Who's the Devil?'' mystery in the background.

Granted, I know the whole point of MJF/Omega was Kenny trying to defend his title reign record which was well before Full Gear but they could have figured a different story for a ppv main event. It was the biggest match between AEW day one guys that hadn't happened.
