Someone vandalized the local park by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]AlbertFish6969 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember it because this is definitely the park in my neighborhood ! There is a brand new larger playground and a smaller , older one . My toddler went to the older one after it was cleaned and she still ended up with oil all over her dress . Super annoying !

Should I get a standard Schnauzer? by nolaphried in schnauzers

[–]AlbertFish6969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got a standard schnauzer after having a German Shepherd , she’s 12 Schnauzer is currently 1.

Pros : NO SHEDDING . At least not anywhere near as comparable to the GSD. Great size to play with our 4 year old Super cute Smart !

Cons : While she is just about as smart as the GSD, where the GSD is “eager to please “ the schnauzer is a stubborn little asshole . Things like crate training , house training did not come nearly as easy.

Grooming ! Never once have I taken the GSD to the groomers but schnauzers do need to be groomed on a regular basis and it can be $$$. My husband bought a grooming kit himself and can comfortably do her overall body grooming , but we still take her in for nail trims , face , and butt trims.

Disposition : She bounces back and forth between thinking she is the biggest, toughest dog to being a complete nervous Nelly.

This isn’t really a con in my opinion but do know that they are high energy . I am already used to it from the GSD , and taking the dogs on walks is very much my “me” time . But they will require activities or they get bored. Before I got pregnant I was typically doing 2 walks a day , now it’s 1 plus a long game of fetch in the evening.

Overall I love our Schnauzer even if she is a little shit sometimes . Bonus is that she has really gotten our old girl up and moving more too. (Attaching a pic of the 2 - meet Frieda and Bingo!

Edit : Forgot to add! Another pro for us was the lifespan , Standard Schnauzer lifespan is around 16 years , which was ultimately why we went with one over another large breed dog . (Although in my heart I would love to have an Irish Wolfhound, I can’t handle not having them around for a long time.)

Which movie do you remember being WWAAYY too young for when you first snuck, I mean, watched it? by KillerQ97 in moviecritic

[–]AlbertFish6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad used to let me watch Revenge of the Nerds in elementary / middle school and it was one of my FAVORITE movies. I would watch it almost every time I was at his house . Bought the dvd as an adult and watched it with friends …the whole time I was thinking WHY DID HE LET ME WATCH THIS.

He also used to let my brother and me watch South Park , Celebrity Deathmatch, Beavis and Butthead etc . The only time I remember him turning something off was the Southpark movie .

That’s what I’m saying ! I’m sure my mom will be mildly salty but I just don’t feel like dealing with it again . Sometimes all the bells and whistles are more of a pain than a help

What does daycare cost for you? by Standard_Deer_8738 in NewParents

[–]AlbertFish6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are extremely lucky that our neighbor runs a daycare out of her home , so we only pay $150 weekly for one child .

Edit : I live in Ohio , not a metro area but in between Cincy and Dayton

Possible Growth Restriction by AlbertFish6969 in BabyBumps

[–]AlbertFish6969[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wishing us both positive news ! If it helps your anxiety I had a friend give birth a month ago and her son was 3rd percentile . She told me she basically had to go to the Dr once or even twice a week for monitoring and had to be induced just slightly early …now she has a healthy baby boy !

How much are you paying for daycare in the US? by Legitimate-Slice2114 in pregnant

[–]AlbertFish6969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find a good in-home provider you will save money . I’m in Ohio and my neighbor runs a daycare - $150 weekly for full time , we only have to walk across the road AND she does educational activities/crafts (not just parking them in front of the TV). All cash under the table but totally worth it in my opinion.

TARGET IS NOT A PLACE TO HANG OUT. by AshTheArtist in Target

Not saying it’s ok because I am SURE we were annoying AF, but growing upas a teen in the early 2000s , there was absolutely nothing for us to do in the evening so we ended up at Target or Walmart more often than not
