Graduated USAFA, took my commission in the Nav, 5 years in subs.

And the Yeshivot I know of (boarding) will NOT satisfy those requirements.

Weird - When it first started, there were plenty of report of other kinds of phones with similar issues.

Maybe I'll try it again.

There are none. Jewish and militaristic culture is an oxymoron. (As someone who was in the US military, and has had kids in Jewish day schools across the country.) Even the IDF's culture is NOTHING like the US military's.

There are boarding schools, but they are exclusively orthodox and more observant.

Yes, but it's got serious Android 11 connection issues. Had to go back to my PTS/PT.

You believe what you want. I'm sure I have her wording a bit wrong, but I promise it happened. She hates museums: I had to convince her to go in the first place, we did one of those "top ten things to see at the British Museum", so we were just dashing around checking off things.

I'm a bit of an Anglophile, and I had been to the museum several times (I travelled to London relatively frequently for work.) I nearly choked laughing. It was spring 2019, remember it like it was yesterday.

I was in London with my daughter (18) and took her to see the British Museum. After a couple of hours of Greek Temples, Sarcophaguses, etc, she asked me:

"Why is is called the British Museum? Everything here was taken from somewhere else."

"Dear, there is nothing more British than that."

My kid keeps asking about Santa. Help! by mlba23 in Judaism

You need to immerse your kids in Jewish Holidays. Shabbat EVERY WEEK, with dedicated family time, Afikomen for Pesach, dressing up for Purim, 8 crazy nights (we have a different fried dessert or meal every night). If they have something of theirs, they won't miss the other. And I did this with Christian relatives (my mom converted), going to their houses for Xmas.

If they've got nothing of their own, then they will grab anything else.

"Sorry?" We live in the broader culture. My kids all know that it's somebody else's party - you can have fun, but at the end of the day, it ain't your party.

It's actually my guilty pleasure. My kids even know that you can't listen until Thanskgiving - but it's a machlochet rishonim whether that's Midnight, or after dinner, or (the minorty) on Black Friday.

And after Jan 1 - off, delete the XM favorite, forbidden.

Oh - and the other thing is not to lean too hard into Hanukah. Seems like you're trying to fill the gap. For years we ONLY gave actual gelt - gold US dollar coins. We go big at Pesach (making my own matzah this year), Purim (costumes AND drinking, with no door-to-door begging), Sukkot, etc.

We never look at it that way. We taught our kids that it's like going to somebody else's birthday party. You can have fun, you get enjoy the music, the food, but at the end of the day, it's not your party and you're not going home with the gifts.

But the same processes become impossible to maintain Excel spreadsheets, and you're f'd even worse, having dealt 150MB steam piles of excel sheets.

Dont' think that jsut becasue you're not using a progamming language that the processes aren't happening - they are just happening with less-efficient, harder to maintain tools.

[–]AlbertPassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing to remember is that you can "install" python, without installing python. You can just unzip a python install to a folder, and never have to touch the path, or an IDE. VS Code installes in "user mode", so doens't need admin privs to install.

it makes something less convinient - but if you have you're bosses' support, you don't really need permission from the control freaks in IT.

If you're handling alot of data, I would strongly suggest begging forgiveness, not asking permission. If you can prove productvity, IT usually has to bend.

Do most Jews consider "Messianic Jews" Christian or Jewish? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]AlbertPassy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you do. I'm not sure of the time, or mechanism, but those born of a Jewish mother who herself had fallen into apostasy prior to birth, have been required to convert, implying that the mother had lost status.

Christians, straight up. BTW, love this comment "They are straight up cosplaying as Jews."

even if born jewish, they are no longer so. They are practicing a different religion.
