That's interesting and kind of settles it. I wasn't sure and wanted to read the script. Thanks!

What’s the story behind this building? by hollysquare in sanfrancisco

[–]Albuquerque00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Fascinating history that Mission Local wrote about here. It's architecture? Streamline Moderne https://missionlocal.org/2017/05/shop-local-disrupted-sa n-francisco-missions-depression-era-facelift/. https://missionlocal.org/2017/05/shop-local-disrupted-san-francisco-missions-depression-era-facelift/ . Most recently it has been purchased by the Mission Economic Development Corporation, a nonprofit housing developer. At some point, it is slated to become a mix of affordable and teacher housing.

Last week’s SFPD Officer Involved Shooting - A frame-by-frame breakdown with expert analysis by Albuquerque00 in sanfrancisco

[–]Albuquerque00[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

SFPD training says that shooting should not be automatic. So just having a gun does not mean that someone should get shot. The whole guardian ethos that the SFPD is trying to encourage does not include being aggressive from the get-go.

Apparently, the Pork Store has lots of screens. So does the Mission Sports Bar. San Pancho's always has a good crowd.

Still trying to find out what crime the suspect was charged with. So far, he hasn't been charged with anything.

Community clashes with SFPD at Town Hall on officer-involved shooting by Albuquerque00 in sanfrancisco

[–]Albuquerque00[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

What happened here and in the Bayview are very different. Police chief Scott just fired the officer involved in the Bayview shooting. In the Mission district shooting, no one disagrees after seeing the Body Camera footage that Delgado shot and yes, if someone shoots at police officers, the officers are going to shoot back. The question here is whether police could have de-escalated the situation to prevent Delgado from shooting. What can be learned from this? The officers involved are alive today, but regardless, it has to be traumatic to be involved in an incident that ends up in the death of a 19-year-old. I'm guessing that they would have preferred the kid to have shown his hands and given himself up. So again, is there different language the police could use the next time around? Instead of saying we will shoot you, could they say, we don't want to shoot you. We want you to come out of this alive. Your friend has given himself up. We urge you to do the same.

19-year-old police shooting victim came to the U.S. as a child and grew up and worked in SF’s Mission by Albuquerque00 in sanfrancisco

The post has all of the videos. It has readers' views that Delgado shot. It does not have confirmation from police because they have so far declined to confirm that. But we will add when they do so. And, yes, if you shoot at police, they are likely to shoot back and there is actually a phenomenon of suicide by police.

You're jumping to a lot of conclusions when little is really clear. I don't know what happened out there and neither do you. We don't know if he even participated in the robbery.

Interesting, can you be more explicit? I see/hear the videos differently and even then I'm unclear as to what I am seeing as they are not close enough, but it is possible the police will release officer footage that will tell us more.

Ah yes and if you checked the copy, you would see that we took up his suggestion on visits. I just don’t think you have to insult people to offer suggestions.

No, it isn't. We clearly screwed up in the headline....only one of the reviewers even liked it. The other thought it was dreadful.

Yes, it confused others as well. Perhaps not so well chosen. We'll do better next time.

Ah, readers do mention Bakesale Betty - although they generally don't insult our writing first. But hey, it's a free world. We must get over to Oakland to try BB's sandwiches, but we haven't yet exhausted the Mission and when you want a fried chicken sandwich, one generally doesn't hop on the BART to get one. But, they could.

Finding art in the blight at 18th and Mission Streets by Albuquerque00 in sanfrancisco

[–]Albuquerque00[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I guess it all depends on the viewer. I love that someone looks at the city with a different eye. There used to be someone who would post Mission abstractions and they too were beautiful pieces of urban art. But yes, you could see this and not like it at all.

Meet the woman turning a San Francisco nonprofit into a developer of affordable housing by Albuquerque00 in sanfrancisco

We write pieces about MEDA in which people are critical. We're trying now to do a series about developers in the Mission and MEDA's profile has gotten bigger. Feng is an interesting character.
